Never fished fairfield before wanted to know how it is. And what are some good things to use there. Also how are the redfish there? If i could get any info that would be great.
Thanks

Fairfield is a great lake to fish. The Redfish will get you hooked and soon you be a regular. The best advice I can give you is to call Jackie Kennedy @ 903-603-3793. He has forgotten more than most know about fishing that lake.

Get with JackieKenndy he will introduce you to peanut and a few of his fishy girl friends, some baits they like, and places they like to haunt.

But you will have to change your TFF handle/name afterward. You should not even be permitted to fish for reds with that handle, you will not deserve a red bite. After catching a few reds if you still retain this handle, then we will know you are lying before you can even post your first character on our screens.

C-rig the points and sand bar drop at the hot outfall cove. For LMB and reds I suggest Med. to large Tiki Sticks watermelon red flack for bright skies, watermelon chartreuse tipped for overcast or low sun skies, Sweet Potato color for all skies, redip in Bang Garlic any time the bait does not leave an oil slick on the surface as you bring it in (~4-12 casts per dip depending upon the water temperature and current). Bag Garlic is many times more effective than Spike-it Garlic.

Minimum of 20# test line with big spools, 5/0 Gama EWG hooks, drag set for 8# break strength. All are available at Academy. Make sure you are tying near line break strength knots, your knots will be tested!

PS the Red bite on worms feels like a bait fish "munching" let him work it, do not set the hook until you fell some weight or pressure on your line, there will be no question he is there. The Bang garlic/Tiki flavor combo makes both Reds and LMB hang on to that bait. After setting the hook if it runs hard it is a red, then do not attempt to turn him until he lets up on his first run, you cannot stop their first run like a bass, if you try you will just bust tackle, and wish you had not done that.

Jackie methods will get you more reds and more red fishing knowledge than fishing this method and these artificial can do.

PS The reds can easily eat any smaller than a palm size width fish. This can include LMB.

I ain't listen to liars any more, remember this handle will have to change after you catch some reds.

caught these guys saturday 30th trolling we ended up catching 23 Red's none under 20 inches 3 bass none under 4 lbs and one gar broke off one time fishing live bait from the bank... aarons 30 inch 9lb red first fish of the day..
my skinny 36 inch 14 lb 1oz red PB
1 oz black and chrome rat-l-trap trolled behind a 2 man caught all our fish trolling using 7ft med-hvy rod with abu 6500 c3 reels spolled with 15# mono big game. the fish that broke us off broke a 30lb mono leader witha 50lb main line... lol on a liter note if you ever see a 2 man spinning in circles in open water just sit back and wait 10 mins or so we will either fall out from being dizzy or land the little guy..

You done good. A two man Kayak 10 minute spin? I'd go for a 10 minute fight.

Saw one other boat trolling north of the ramp, shallower than I was, one guy had a yellow straw hat, was that you?

Wow 36" and 14#, this batch of reds are going to be horses when they finally beef out.

Was that break off at the knot or line break?

Had one eat a 6" long non-replaceable plug last Saturday. All we got back was the cut line, and one good AWH CRAPE. Serves the reeler right for pulling too hard.

I have June 5, 6, 10, 12 open if anyone wants in on some red action.

Were the reels air, water, or oil cooled?

8up, Those Reds eat real good. They fight like nothing else in fresh water. You should give them a try for sure.

Check out the photos and trip logs for average size and catches.
All information is on my website:
jackiekennedy
We put in a short trip last night landing 8 fish in just under 45 minutes, six nice 20"+ and two just under 20".
I'm not at home and can't post photos right now.
Reds are the ultimate string stretching in southern freshwater.

The underwater freight train redfish bite has been very good as we head into summer. See results of jackieblue's latest trips here.... scroll down for the most recent posts.

To book a trip call 903.603.3793. For a minimal additional charge, or a handful of treats, you may also request that Capt. Peanut the Wonder Dog accompany you on your outing.
