Funny, one would think from reading the forums that only p.o.s. Gloomis's break on the hookset, or anytime else for that matter. Guess other brands of rods break once and a while too. Who would have thunk it!

My 21 carrot gold stik snap on the hookset today. The fish was only 2 and a half pounds. I'll never buy another one.

I've had Kistlers snap on hookset, and one even on a snappy cast. I think that's a problem with lightweight, ultra-sensitive rods. The blank walls are thin and brittle, and leave little room for manufacturing error.
I now use Falcon Cara and Expert rods in the boat, and rods I've assembled myself from All-Star and Loomis blanks. I also have a garage full of old Falcon Classics, and 'bout half dozen Kistlers that I may take out again just to see what happens.
I love Falcons... they've never turned on me.
I've never killed anyone, but I've read several obituaries with great enjoyment.
