The setup I prefer is a med/light action rods with a small spinning reel. I fish alot of soft placstic but like to throw a shallow crank bait or a lighter rattle trap every now and then. I currently use 8-10 lb. test mono (Trilene) but i am interested in trying something else. The water clarity i fish is typically clear to slighty stained ponds. But i have been going to G-vine lake more often mow. Any suggestions for a well rounded line i should be using for what i fish?

T-Line made by Mason out of Otisville MI. Soft, low memory copolymer that is as tough as nails. My main line for nearly 20 years. A little hard to get (fishing tackle grabbag: 877-251-4771) but worth the effort. To me, nothing on the market has ever come close.

Cut with her golden oars the silver stream,
And greedily devour the treacherous bait.

I use P-Line Flourocarbon in 10 lb test with that same setup.

Why don't you like what you are using? Are fish breaking off? Are you concerned you aren't getting bit as much as you would like?

It just seems that the line I use (Berkley Mono) has too much memory. I just wanted to try something different but every time im in front of the wall of line at the store I always resort to the same stuff.

I use spinning gear alot and use a few different types of line. If you are concerned about memory try using a line conditioner like the KVD stuff. It helps keep your line soft and castable and helps control memory no matter the line. I have it on deck at all times. If you like Berkley for your spinning rods, make sure you are buying the one in the red package that says XL (xtra limp) which makes the line more managable as opposed to XT ( xtra tough) which is better for baitcasting applications. I mainly use Florocarbon because i am finesse fishing with my spinning setup. I use Berkley Vanish for my spinning outfits because it is more manageable like the XL mono. It is not very abraision resistant so you need to set your drag right and not cast in the middle of a tree with 8lb line but other than that is is the perfect line for spinning reels if you take care of it properly. Many will dissagree with Vanish claiming it has resulted in bad experiences with it but I have been using it for years and with the right setup, it cant be beat for spinning rods. P-Line also makes a great product if you want to stay with mono or a co-polymer line.
