FYI, I was using the $50 shimano castaways that academy sells, I have broken 5 in a month, none by my fault.
I traded them in for the $50 Allstars, and am still SMOKING the fish.
Just my 2 pennies....

I am not going to say that it is the best rod...But it is by far my favorite for all flipping applications!

i was a falcon fan ever since i can remember and still am....tried the carrot stix the first year they came out and was impressed with them...super light weight and extremely sensitive matched up with flouro...sold all my falcons and fished the carrot stix most of last year....got tired of the bright orange stick and got in a slump and lost confidence with them...went back to falcon but knew in the back of my mind the carrot stix was a better rod "for me" and thats all that matters...replaced all my falcons with carrot stix for this year...yeah yeah i know i sold out!!! as carlos says but its all about confidence....there is honestly not one single rod brand that is better than the other...seriously theres not...whats becomes the best product over all the others is what you have the most confidence in period...im not associated in any way with falcon or e21...and the guys on here that are on x brand staff are on there because they prefer that brand and have the most confidence in it...i've been a member here since 04 i think and i have never felt like a product was being jammed down my throat from all the staff guys...they took that position for numerous reasons...they use and have confidence in the product, it helps them save money and who doesnt appreciate that, and being part of a team or pro staff may be the closest that person gets to "being a pro"...lord knows it is for me lol..i guess what im trying to say is use what feels good to you and not what someone else says is good for you...try different brands and figure out what works for you...save your reciepts and try something different...and last but not least...FISH TILL YOU PUKE!!!! Nathyn I remember the day that you returned all those carrot sticks to cabelas and they hit the bargain cave, caused a zoo in there ..hope you still like that 50 mg and lowrider haha.

Daiwa Steez and Zillion.
I was doing a promotion a few weeks ago and a guy came in with his brother. He asked his brother to talk him out of buying a Carrot Stick, his brother never said anything. I said I can do that for you. So I handed him my Zillion with a jig on it and said pitch this around. He put the Carrot Stick down and is now the proud owner of 4 Zillions and is going to get some more in the near future.

Carrot Stix hands down. I know this because this is what I fish with. If I owned Loomis rods I would have said Loomis, and if I was sponsored by Dobyns rod I would have said Dobyns. But nope I use Carrot Stix so therefore they are hands down the best rod in the world. Probably ever made. Most sensitive, lighest, blah blah etc..you know how it goes.

What truly defines High End? The price?
How much difference is there between a $150 Carrot Stix and a $350 Loomis? Does the warranty play a role in it?
Seems to me that to label something the best, all factors have to be taken into account... availability, warranty, sensitivity, price, etc...
I know the Loomis warranty deal has been discussed on here ad nauseum, but my question is the Loomis worth the extra $100 and change compared to my Cumara? Loomis breaks, I send $50 and wait 2 weeks - Cumara breaks, I drive to Cabelas/BPS and have a new one... free.
Just some miscellaneous questions/observations...

I have Loomis, which has awesome sensitivity, but it is not as comfortable to fish as my older and much cheaper Team Daiwa rod nor my St. Croix Mojo Bass rod. Neither of those are as sensitive, so at what point do you find yourself willing to trade a little sensitivity for comfort? I've also broken my Loomis twice as it is quite fragile, hence the sensitivity.
Just got my first Carrot Stix (spinning rod), and I'm in love. It's a great mix of sensitivity and comfort. I also know that if it breaks, it's an over the counter warranty and not a "send us your rod, pay us $50 and wait 2-6 weeks" warranty". I bought the Carrot Stix over another St. Croix because of this and I'm glad I did.

Are any of the rod names being listed even worthy of being called "high end"? GLX, some Kistlers, maybe a few Dobyns approach that level. Megabass and Steez certainly step into the 'high end' market. JDM, Evergreen, Damiki are few more.

I'm partial to the stock rod that comes on my zebco 33 combo.

How about we just be gratful that we have so many good choices that there is actually room for debate about which one is best.
But for me I love my Gloomis rods, as light and sensitive as I have yet to find.
But then again I have not tried every rod in the entire world so I guess unless you have tried every single rod made on this planet one cannot truly determine who's rod is best...now can we?
