For the past two weeks, I've been using this little minnow to fish for bluegill. The bluegill in our pond get about 4 inches long, that I've seen, at the most. So far, my minnow has been pretty successful, but I'm curious as to what else I should try besides live bait. Suggestions?

Picture of my little minnow:

It's about 2.5" - 3" long.

the funny part about the little minnow is that yesterday we went out to the pond so she could catch some perch and a 2 lb bass hit it and broke her off before i could adjust the drag for her. You win some you loose some. We have thrown rooster tails and little jigs but that little minnow seems to work better, plus the little bass hit it to.

Roadrunners and bettlespins work great on occassion. thumb

I've had good luck with small ones in chartreuse & black.

The little surface plugs, grasshopper & cricket do real well too, just a hint to remove those tiny trebles and replace with a aberdeen single hook. Sure will save time trying to unhook those tiny trebles on your catches.

Have fun with them!

I would have to say tube jigs work really well for me on 4 lb test line. Good luck.

I had a bunch of 1" sassy shad tails on 1/16 and 1/32 jig heads and realy slayed... I've run out though and haven't been able to find them anymore! Best colors were clear/flake with black back and green/flake with black back.
