A few of us guys from the Nacogdoches area are planning a brush party. As of right now, we are aiming on Saturday, June 13th. We plan on meeting the night before to look over a map and discuss the best locations for the piles to be placed (hopefully to have brush to go to in any wind direction) and then the morning of the 13th we would all go out in our boats to place the piles out and GPS them together. One of the guys who lives on the lake has offered his barge to help carry a lot of the bamboo. If anyone is interested in helping out (there will be some manual labor!) please let me know. Also, bring a couple of cinder blocks if possible, and if you wish, you can bring brush, but I have a healthy amount of bamboo that I'm going to cut down. This will not only improve the habitat, but will also give those who regularly fish the lake, and those who may only fish a few times a year a spot that they know has brush.

Yup. I called already and got permission from the people over the lake. They said to make sure it is well below the water so there would be no risk in it hitting boat motors. I would check first though, just to make sure wherever you want to put some out.

Great idea guys... hope it creates yall some real honey holes. Hope this question "Is it legal to put brushpiles in our texas lakes?" doesn't open up that can of worms again.
I don't live for the thump, but I sure do like it.

It's a great idea Jacob...
I hope to get some folks together and have a party like yours at some local lakes here.
The problem most often than not is that the local authority doesn't allow it. But if do-able, I would love for a good group to do Lake Arlington... It's small and close to home. That way everyone would have a nice chance to know lots of productive honey holes...and learn from each other...

Slabmesilly, that sounds like a plan. I love that lake because its so close to me. Will be there bright and early in the morning. I will be in a blue and gray bass tracker if you're out there. Would love to learn the lake better.

I'll warn you now, you will need ALOT of weight to hold down bamboo. I really likes to float. But, you have a great idea.

3 cinder blocks is what we're planning on right now. Hopefully that'll hold em down!

Friday Morning 8:00AM: I will be cutting down bamboo at my place if anyone wants to come help. I live at 4519 Old Lufkin Rd. in Nacogdoches.
Friday Afternoon 6:00PM: All who would like to come out and help scout for spots, Bill has offered to take us for a ride on his barge. He lives on the lake at 214 Westwind Circle. If you'd like to take your own boat, you could meet us at his dock which is the second one around the bank from the West Park with a Lowes barge in it.
Saturday Morning 6:30 AM: We'll meet at Bill's place to assemble the piles and put them out at the specified locations from the night before. Again, if you'd like to take your own boat to help haul some of the brush, you are more than welcome. I would suggest bringing some plywood or old carpet to set the piles on so you won't scratch your paint.
