Yep, I would go allstar rather than the rodsmith next to it. My allstars are holding up great the rodsmiths stay on my bench getting fixed. Hard to beat for 50 bucks

My dad's an old school fisherman, which mean it's usually really hard to get him to change or try anything new (LOL!). He uses the Allstar Classic sold at Academy EXCLUSIVELY. I've tried for years to get him to buy or I'll buy for him a couple of the G-Loomis rods I use. My selling point to him is that I get a great quality high end rod that if ANYTHING at all ever happens to it I can get them to ship me another one for $50.00. His reply is..."I've got a real good rod in my Allstars that if ANYTHING at all ever happens to it I can go to Academy & replace it for $50.00 bucks...OH! & I ONLY have $50.00 wrapped up in the rod to begin with!".
You know.....some times we need to just sit back & listen to the old guys because most of the darn time they know what their talking about, LOL!

Oh, dear, a Chinese rod that isn't made of delicate, breakage-prone, ultra-lightweight unobtainium microfiber space-age material that costs more than my first car? Who could possibly want one of these?
Well, I like mine...the Chinese Castaways aren't bad, either. The new H2O Academy rods feel pretty good too.

Have several All-Star rods and a couple of Castaway and one Falcon I got during a Rod Riot all from Academy. Biggest difference I have noticed between Allstar's and Castaway rods versus Falcon is that the Falcon seems noticeably lighter.

I have three of the All-Star Instincts and I am looking to pick up about 5 more. The 6'10'' is a great rod, along with the 7'6''
