Oooooh, I like that! I've put a split shot up ahead of the fluke a ways up the line but this sounds MUCH better! Thank you, Rudy! thumb

I like to put a split shot about 3 feet from the hook. My best luck has been with a Watermelon fuke using a 4/0 hook. As far as fishing it just below the surface, I use a swivel about 1 1/2-2' above the hook. A friend of mine uses a 5/0 hook and fishes it real fast and he slays them like that. I think Im gonna start using a 5/0 myself.

mustad ultra point in 6/0 for the standard size fluke and 2/0 or 3/0 for the super fluke junior. also, a small pinch on weight in 1/16 or 1/8 gives them a little faster action. my favorite color is watermelon with the tip of tail dipped in chartreuse.

Walmart has some hooks with 32 oz. weights that they keep by the frogs, not with the hooks. Great presentation because the weight is toward the front of the hook.

I use a 5/0 hook with 12 inch leader. I also rig the bait upside down particulary around pads. If there's a good ripple I'll insert a galvanized nail. I work the bait in a Worming method more then a twitch-twitch pause. The less action the better for quality bites.

The majical fluke. All above mentioned techniques are great and on any given day any one or more techniques catch fish. First rule with a fluke is that the number of ways to fish one are only limited by your imagination. I really like the 15-18" leader swivle set up and some times put a split shot or two above the swivle. When work with fast hard jerks the fluke will flash roll like shad. The swivle on a short leader really allows the bait to have erratic action. Also holding the rod tip high and reeling fast alows the fluke to be fished as a top water lure. When you get the speed and timing down the fluke will look and sound exactly like smaller bass busting bait fish on the surface. This can be deadly in the mornings or in schooling surfacing bass.

I use a 1/16 or 1/8 projo weight (like a mojo but in brass) about 18" from lure with a 4.0 hook skin hooked. Peg the weight with a rubber peg. Dead stick and fish slow. Dip the tail in chartreuse.

That is so true with the Fluke. After catching some quality fish while picking out a backlash, I learned to slow down. I use a 3/0 EWG hook, which works good for me.
