I bought 8 gallons of Cabot PRO V.T. for the house trim at my place. (Lowes had its dented cans on sale for $5.00, couldn't pass it up.) Why does it tell me I can't use it on a horizontal surface? I'd like to paint the rail on my deck, but they say not to.

Just a guess. Its a stain and uneven application on horizontal surface would cause pools that would stain darker than the rest?

That makes sense. Since it's a light gray, I think I'll give it a try anyway on the rails.
