I've lived in benbrook for 25 years, and I just recently bought a nice boat. I've had decent luck on benbrook just trolling, and every once in a while getting on a school, but I'm as inconsistent at catching fish on benbrook as the cowboys have been at winning football games. I was wondering if anyone can offer me any tips. My electronics aren't very fancy. I've located a few drop-offs and structure that tend to produce fish, but nothing consistent. Any hep would be appreciated.
Just love to fish!

Tip #1 -- Stay off the lake for another week or 2 until the Geologists are done. The geologist are laying the cable for their tests and are using a form of explosive to ancher the cable. Fishing is very inconsistent!!!
Tip #2 -- Assuming it is mid June for fishing to return to normal -- start by looking on the humps and points mid lake in 14-24 feet of water. Richardson's Slough is usually good this time of year.
Tip #3 -- Contact Benbrook Guide -- he has some really GOOD prices on his guide trips = learn more in one outing than you can in several on your own.
Tip #4 -- Use the Benbrook Marina -- best on the lake and best people you will want to meet.

#4 very important--several of the other ramps are not as nice and not safe! Good people at the marina and now they have a hamburger shack. Since they are already using them--can we fish with high explosives now?

However, anytime you want to learn a new lake fast, hire a quality guide, that is on the lake of choice (Tip #3). This applies to any lake, no matter where it is located and it juct so happens Benbrook Guide is the guide recommended. It will save you lots of frustrating fishing trips and wasted gas

Fuzzy,
I was on that lake saturday and noticed boey's spread across that lake from one side to another maybe 1000 yards apart and I couldnt figure out what it was, drove over them with the depth finders a few times and it did not mark anything. Also seen a boat with 4 men in it with what looked like hard hats on behind a boat that looked like a shrimp boat. I just scratched my head and moved on... I will look into the guide's thanks for the advise....

there are underwater humps located midway down the dam, about 60-70 yards from the rocks

Benbrook Marina -- from Hwy 377 there is a big sign for Dutch Branch Park and I think it is Stevens Road. Stevens Road goes past the VFW and intersects Lake View Road with a sign that says Dutch Branch Park. Lake View Road takes you right to the Benbrook Marina.
Yep - those are the Geologist bouys.

Already some good info stated above for you, and looks like you have started in the right directions with the humps. As Fuzzy stated earlier, with all the blasting going on it will several weeks before it gets back to what you would call normal for Benbrook. And by then it will be tme for the "play" traffic to start. You will need to fish early in the morning and take a break come back fish late afternoon. Trolling is effective on BB, but you should also use slabs around mid-lake humps, also on the west bank there are several points that extend out that have been productive this time of year. The dam is also a good choice, but there again with the "play" traffic gonna be tough somedays to fish the dam. And last but not least. Live fresh shad is always a good choice, anchored up or drifting. I use Benbrook marina, They are great people. I feel better knowing that someone is kinda keeping an eye on your stuff while its parked.

Hey Benbrook Guide,
Leave something real good for me in the back of you truck. LOL
And by the way ya'll should not lie to that guy, you know there's no fish in Benbrook.
I'm out of school the rest of the week and I'm going out Thursday and try to catch a few.
