I have been hearing rumors that walmart has dropped FLW...I can't find anything to support this but I would like I know if anyone has heard anything.

In the fishing retailer magazine there are articles every few months about Walmart has scaling back on there tackle selection in the past year. Surprised it hasn't happened earlier if it really has...

Cameron, I love your signature. Every now and then when I need a good laugh, I go to youtube and watch one of those commercials.

Walmart is revisiting its arrangement with FLW and is aggressively pursuing a win-win marketing strategy that will lead to a near term dominant position in the market vis-a-vis B.A.S.S circa 1967.

I hope this is not true, and I have not heard anything about it...If Walmart drops the FLW Tour, there will be no FLW Tour.

Wal Mart might drop them but the FLW just signed a high level sponsorship with Cabelas.

I venture to say the Cabelas deal is a drop in the bucket compared to Walmart. If Walley World drops out, so will all the other non indemic brands thay persuaded to come on board.

Noone has mentioned the Chevy team. That money is now gone.

This is a tough year, and there will be many companies in the marine/tackle industry not make it. It is very sad. Lots of people out of work.

Could be good and bad. FLW tried to bring in all these non-inherent sponsors that came and went year to year like Nascar. As much as it did to help the sport financially, it was always weird to hear "Let's check in with 'I Can't Believe It's Not Butter' Pro John Whatever". If Cabelas steps up and takes over as the lead sponsor that's great but they don't have Walton pockets, so there may be some cutting back to do with field sizes and pay outs.

The original owners were probably outdoorsmen...the new corporate types, not so much.

I have no proof, only what I was told by someone way up in the industry. I was told that Walmart is going to do away with the fishing tackle 100%. I was told that they said the profit versus floor space wasn't there. Guess we will see if it's true or not.
