Hey guys, I need some help. I caught my PB this winter and I only have a pic but no measurements.

No, this is not me in the picture bang I was fishing by myself and this couple came up as I was fighting this hawg. As I reached down to lip her and pull her out of the water, the dayum hook came out! Luckily she was wedged a bit on the shoreline and quite tired so I dove on her and my arm and leg were completely submerged in the lake. I froze my a$$ off smile LESSON: get a freakin' crankbait rod! I was using my fast action Loomis like a dummy with a Rapala jerkbait and it almost cost me the fish of a lifetime. I FINALLY understood the need to have a slower tip for cranks smile

Anyway, thankfully this couple was there watching the whole thing and she took a pic with my iPhone camera. I suspected she didn't hit the right button so I made her hubby (I assume) hold the fish so I could make sure and get a good pic of the fish. I'm glad I did because there was no pic of me holding the fish in my phone afterwards huh I was lucky to get this one as I was in a bit of shock and couldn't stop shaking for a while and when the hook came out, I thought my heart was gonna stop so I wasn't thinking all that well. They took a TON of pics of the whole thing so I could have given them my email address but I didn't think about it.

I let her go after reviving her (dang near killed her by keeping her out of the water so long eek ) I want a replica made but I have NO idea what the measurements would be. She was 10lbs 14oz on my digital scale and the guy was about an inch shorter than me so he'd be around 5'7".

Sorry about the erased parts but my buddy likes this spot and asked I not advertise so I'm respecting that. He took ME fishing here so I'm pretty grateful. It is a lake and not a pond.

Is there a formula for measurements based on weight like there is a formula for weight based on measurements? Also, can anyone recommend a good replica maker? I hear there is a guy at Lake Fork that does a good job.

try checking the tpwd website, I believe you can find approximate length and girth by weight.

I would go with 24.5 by 19.

By the way.... congrats on the double digit. I think TTU is right on his estimations too.

According to the TPWD site, a fish with that weight would be approx. 25 3/8" long. By plugging in number into the formula to calculate weight of a bass, I came up with 19" for girth.

25 3/8 x 25 3/8 x 19/1200 = 10.18

I'm running the formula from memory, so if it's wrong someone please correct me.

Congrat's on a double digit.

Measure your thumbnail in the photo and use that as a reference since that is the most prominent frature in the photo due to how close you are holding the fish to the photo. Then meanure your thumb in real life and convert the measurements.

Character is who you are when nobody else is around.

Thanks for the feedback guys! Seems everyone was pretty much estimating similar measurements so I'll use that when I go to have a replica made. I wish my son had been with me when I caught it. He's only 9 but he loves to fish with me. After I caught this one, I read a bunch of posts on here about a TON of other big fish being caught all over Texas. Sure was a good Winter to fish smile I'd never actually tried fishing in the wintertime but I'm glad I did. This one was caught in Feb and had an 8lb a couple days before this one.

Oh, since this isn't me in the photo (I'm the one taking the photo), I'm not sure measuring my thumbnail would help but that is a good idea.

Thanks again everyone for the help

25 x 18.5

Whether you think you can or you can't, you are probably right.
