Where can someone go along the coast of Texas and have a
responable chance of catching a big Tiger Shark.
Thanks Bittercreek.

Port Isabelle...maybe...good luck with that. Tiger Shark as a species prefer clear water as they hunt for sea turtles and other prey. I'm not saying that you COULDNT catch a Tiger shark in Port A or Corpus but I'd be suprised. Basically the farther south you go the better your chances in general get.

Thanks Barstow for the info. I am wanting to get 1tooth, for
a necklace. Needs to be BIG! as it is just going to be one.
One of my clients from Odessa had one and it was cool.
Maybe Padre Island?

I caught a 9 ft. Tiger just outside the north jetty at Port A 3 years ago. A friend of mine that fishes exclusively for sharks catches them with some regularity. He fishes from the Port A jetties south and hits PINS pretty hard in the summer.

So you're going to put a big tiger shark through an ordeal that to bring it in requires it exhausted almost to the point of death just to yank a tooth out of it's jaw and cause it further pain? That's pretty selfish and VERY BAD sportsmanship IMO. Sharks are way too important to the eco system and threatened enough to warrant a second thought about trying to catch one for jewelry.

....Maybe "guides" should be required to take a course in biology and sportsmanship to become one.

DevilDog28,
The statement you made above could be said about almost any fish caught on rod and reel. your attitude shows your ignorance. I bet you believe in "global warming" too.

Definatly don't believe that fat bastards lie! I promise you I am one of the most right wing conservatives you'll ever run across. Ignorance is putting me in the category of greenie tree huggers when I have other posts about catching fish and eating them. Wouldn't that kind of be a faux paux in that realm????

Yes the same could be said for any fish caught on rod or reel, EXCEPT that most fish caught on rod and reel are for some darn good eating! His stated intention was to get a single tooth from it. That's like shooting a buck for antlers and then leaving a perfectly good carcass to rot instead of dressing it.

I guess you seemed to overlook the fact that reds, specks, cobia, etc. are eaten a hell of a lot more than sharks. I don't care if I tire out a big red because in the end he's going on the fillet board.

Tell you what, come to the jetties with me this weekend, watch some asian pull in a shark, cut the fins off for their BS folk medicine and toss it on the rocks. Then tell me you don't get a little mad at the wasted fish and disrespect of our resources. I guess you think limits are a dumb idea because there's always going to be fish around no matter how much we keep?

Don't question my intelligence or accuse me of being ignorant again. You're welcome to come spend a day with me doing Calculus 3 or inorganic chemistry if you like.

Go to ebay and type in tiger shark tooth. Spare the large shark and save the thousnad dollars + and the 25 trips to even begin to catch a tiger here in Texas. They are here but all the shark fisherman I know consider it a very big deal when they finally hook one and in most cases, the one you do catch here in TX will probably not satisfy the size of tooth you want. Alot of the shark fisherman i know hang out on the extremecoast board. You can judge for yourself the chances of actually landing one.

I respect your post, and I do agree with most of comments,
I is not my intention to kill the Shark, my understanding
folks catch sharks all the time, and target them exclusively.
Perhaps those who feel as you, should band together,
form a coalition and lobby for a rules change.
Also, in order to help you sleep better at nite
over my request to the forum on info. on this matter;
tell me where I can purchase a fake TigerShark tooth.
For your trouble, I will buy 2, and send one to you.
That way, you and I booth can have one, and two tigers
will be swimming the water with a full set of dentures.
One more thing, there Mr. Helper. I do have a degree
in Biologly, and one in Science.
Thanks Bittercreek.
