Any good places in the metroplex where a poor boy can get an '89 suburban transmission rebuilt or to buy a rebuilt unit? I believe mine is a MD8 700r4. Thanks very much for any help.

On a 700r4, my only advice is to find someone who'll do it right and back up their work. They are great trannies, but very picky about being set up properly. Not like the old 350 and 400's that just about anyone with a few special tools can rebuild.
What part of the metro-mess are you in? Might make a difference on who you get referrals too.

Transmission Masters on lancaster east of 820,in Fort worth. Rebuilt my tranny. Had a problem but it never cost me a dime more than the estimate. They stand behind their work!! Mine was 4L80E.

700r4 is the easiest one to rebuild. make sure they flush the trans cooler lines before putting the new/rebuilt one back in the vehicle.
