When im throwing a shallow water 1'-2' crank bait, is it normal not go get a real far cast out of them. I understand that they are lighter than some of the 6'-7' crank baits and i have adjusted my bait caster to accomidate for the difference in weight, but it just seems like i cant get a far cast out of them. Do any of you use a split shot infront of the crank bait to increase weight enough for further casts? Is this normal for the bait to not cast as far out as say a spinnerbait will?

You have got to consider the weight difference. Shallow cranks just dont have the weight to get far casts, especially compared to a 3/8 or 1/2 oz spinnerbait. All i can say is use 10lb line and adjust brakes as needed. good luck.

I throw Lucky Craft Fat CB-100s just as far as any other bait with my chronarchs. I've never seen the need to add any weight.

Try lighter line, as stated above. Should help.

i use a 50 size casting reel with lighter line and a long med/light rod. if youre not setup with the correct rod and reel your distance will decrease. with this setup i can throw a bandit 100 the same distance as a c-rig. hope that helps

I really like the bass pro tournament plus for my small cranks... can throw them a mile w/ 15 lb..... they are pretty inexpensive and are every thing you need for a cranking reel.
If i'm posting on here i'd rather be on the water.

I use a Team Daiwa Zillion on a Powell 7ft crank bait rod with 15 pound test line and get plenty of distance with light lures.

I use a an old Pinnacle Tara and 40 lb braid and I can sling those little thin n's a mile. I believe I use a med heavy 6' 6". I can also pitch those baits a pretty good ways as well with this set up.
