Where I come from, that's a freshwater drum. Still fun to catch.

Man they fight hard, wait till you hook a 6 pounder jigging for crappie. Your heart will jump into your throught for a second thinking you got a world record crappie. That is untill he starts peeling line.

Caught this 10 lb buff today on a crappie rod. It's not a drum, but it puts up a good fight too.

This is a Buffalo, what you have is a drum.

The wikipedia article on them is interesting: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Freshwater_drum.

Don't be afraid to harvest a drum of up to around three pounds if you like to eat some catch. The meat is very firm and white a good candidate for the grill and/or treating like shellfish.

If you ever want to target these fish using bait, try crawfish. Drum like to eat crawfish . . . almost as much as I do.
