I bought the St. Croix Mojo Bass medium spinning rod the other day and it felt amazing with my Team Daiwa TD Fuego 3000 reel so I was pretty stoked.

First day of use, I was using a little practice plug in my yard and caught a low branch that jumped right in front of my plug during my cast smile I know better than try and jerk that out with such light tackle so I walked up and pulled it out with my hand. After I pulled it out, I go to cast and notice the tip broke about 2" down. Dayum! No way that should have broken off with such little pressure.

I took it back to BPS and the manager was awesome! He explained I'd normally have to send it back to St. Croix but it looked like it may have been defective when I bought it the day before due to the splintering at the break so he was gonna let me swap it out. Since I hated having to send in my Loomis rod when it broke twice and wasn't gonna go through that with St. Croix too, I asked about over the counter warranty swap outs and I decided to go with the Carrot Stick spinning rod. I've never owned a Carrot Stick but this thing felt even better than the Mojo Bass and has a much beefier tip. I took it out to Ray Bob this morning and I've become a Carrot Stick convert! This thing is sensitive like my Loomis (although it's only a GL3) and it was so dang comfortable to fish. I'd sell my Loomis, which I just got back from getting a new one through their warranty program, for another Carrot Stick.

Sorry for the book but I know some of you guys like to hear comments and experiences with gear so I thought it might help. I just think the extra $70 for the Carrot was worth being able to go into BPS and swap it out if it ever breaks. I've spent $100 on Loomis's warranty shipping program in the last couple years and hate the wait and added cost to the rod.
