Had a fun day on Joe Pool with my son (holding the bass). He and I have been fishing this lake since it opened and have enjoyed catching a lot of fish over the years. Today we caught 10 with 1 over that weighed 5lbs and was skinny and long with a Big ole head and 1 bad eye. All of my sons fish came on topwater and mine came on dropshot and CR. We fished from 6 to 11 this morning. It sure was fun seeing those fish blow up on that topwater. Broke off 2 good fish on CR in 10 ft of water. The Pool is still producing some good fish.

Hey Mike, good to see you post--and congrats to you and your son on a good outing. I agree, the Pool is still a fun place, although it fishes dramatically different without the grass.

I love topwater but have not had a consistent t/w bite there in over two years. Did your t/w bites all come early? The reason I ask is I remember fishing Pool in the old days (before hydrilla) and we would tear 'em up from first light until about half hour after sun up--then they would shut off. Lately, I'm not even finding that early bite.

BTW, I was out Thursday--things were slow until I broke out the dropshot rod. Wound up with an even dozen, mostly small with one slot.

Wayne

Wayne, good to hear from you! I always look for your Javelin every time I am on Pool. Wayne, I fished Pool for just a few hours late Friday afternoon/evening and caught 15 drop shotting. It was definitely an afternoon bite because I could not duplicate it Saturday morning.

My son's T/W bite was from early until we left at 11:30am when he caught the BIG one. It was bright and sunny and she came up out of a laydown and inhaled that T/W. It was fun to watch. Wish I had grabbed my camera and videoed it.

Wayne, my little Bass Cat grew up to a BIG Kitty now. Almost the same colors. You can see it at the bottom of my post. Flag me down if you ever see me out there and say hello.
