Perch feel like a "machine gun", fast taps that dont stop. They are trying to bite off a chunk of your worm. A bass inhaling your worm feel like slower but more pronounced taps that last only a split second as they inhale the worm.As mentioned above......practice by setting the hook at anything that feels different, you will get the hang of it!

First thing i would do, is invest in a super sensitive CRig rod, i prefer Falcon, Second off Spool it up, with Spider Wire, SUPER sensitive for deep or shallow Riggin applications. Third off, dont use to big of a weight, to where it has a chance of getting hung up, nothing worse then feeling a big thump set the hook and your hung not by the hook but because your weight is wedged between something because it was too heavy,
Mainly the rod and type of line you use, will get you a few more fish in the boat., give it a shot.
Also lift the rod, if the line pulls back its not a tree, rock, or grass. When in doubt set the hook, afterall if it breaks your out a dollar worth of hook weight swivel, right, oh and maybe a few minutes to rerig, but oh what could have been!

Fish a c-rig and jig ALOT... fish as light a weight you can get away with and still feel the cover you are fishing... you'll figure it out...
