Background...
1969 Merc 9.8 hp 110
Motor last used about 6 years ago...New impeller/tune up, used once or twice and then put in storage 6 years ago. Always ran fine, except lower unit seemed excessively hot to the touch. Restarted today in the tank just fine. Ran for about 5 minutes to check it out.
Questions:
1) is there suposed to be a spray of water, "pee" stream, out the back of the motor? ...there's currently just hot exhaust.
2) occasionally the motor coughs under load. During the cough, exhaust will exit the side of the motor (viewed when cover is off). Is this a significant concern?
Thanks in advance, Stephen

OK, I think I found answers to my issues above.
NOW, where can I get parts for a 1969 9.8 hp on Saturday morning...impeller and a exhaust transer gasket?

svdk I once owned a 9.8 merc 110 very strong motor The pee stream on mine was located on the right side just a little aft of crnter . If you will get under the motor you should be able to see the hole it is flush with the motor housing, mine would stop up a lot I just kept a paper clip handy to clear it out,it did not affect the cooling when it was plugged I believe this is more of a indication that the water pump is working.
