Hey guys I'm looking at a boat this will be my first one !!! The boat I'm looking at is a 84 skeeter starfire 150 . This boat is in imaculate condition everything works it has an 84 mercury black max 150 . I have test drove this boat and with 2 people in it I got up to 59 mph. I have offered the guy 4500 and just wandering if that's too much for a clean older boat. Please give me your opinions to help me figure out if this is a good deal

That is a LOT of money for a 25 year old boat. They were well made boats but expect a constant outflow of cash after the purchase.

Get the blue book value on it. I bought a 82 Ranger 335V with a 115 Merc inline 6 this year and I spent 1800.00. It was in ok shape, but I put some work into it. I wouldn't pay more that 2800.00 for it.

You could do better. You should be able to find a 90-92 model for that price. The SF 150 fishes pretty small too and you need to inspect the transom THOROUGHLY.

I agree w/ epicoutdoors! Should be able ta find a better deal for your money. I'm sure its a nice boat but that is a little high for that year boat. I bought my 98 skeeter for 10,900. It was garage kept and like new. Still runs like a champ and have been very satisfied. I have had my skeeter now for 6 or 7 years!

I just recently bought a 1989 184DC Champion W/ a yamaha ProV150. I paid $5,500 for which is way under the blue book value. It runs great, the engine was recently tuned up and runs like new. Everything works in the boat including the digital gauges minus the speedometer. I'm in the process of adding a Bob's Hydraulic Jackplate and building an extended deck for it. I don't have a GPS for it so I am not exactly sure how fast it runs but plenty fast enough for me! I was sold when I took it for a test ride in 30MPH winds and didn't get wet! Great rough water boat which is what I was looking for. I saw the same boat with a 175 Evinrude and extended deck for $6,500 and many other champions ('89-'98) online for under $10K.

i have an 86 mariner engine 175hp it works real well most of the time. Since I bought it I've had to put maybe 800$ into it. Most of that is probably me getting screwed by my original boat guy. How is the trailer? And make sure you get the title on the trailer because the govt. will not let you transfer w/out that.

Get you a good boat guy that you can trust also.
