Took my little boat to twin cove during the weekend and hooked up a big turtle. 18-24" diameter.  here is the first bass caught on my boat

those snapping turtles can get huge with age. Congrats on poppin the cherry on your boat!!!

i have caught bigger turtles! but ice fish and turtles are annoying?

That's a Snapping Turtle. Them suckers can take your finger clean off at the knuckle. I hope you were careful when you released it.

Release it? Those things are some of the best eating you will ever get your tastebuds on! They have 6-7 different kinds of meat....my Dad and I used to fish for snapping turtles when I lived in Iowa and we would catch some that were as big 'round as a 55 gallon drum. I left the cleaning of the turtles up to him

i just cut the line off and let himself to deal with the hook. as for eating, i was told that it is one of the most heathy meat in the world. remeber those chinese track team champion girls? their daily nutrition include turtle blood.
