Try crenshaw park in pasadena. I take my kids there quite a bit. It is @ crensha & burke. Also check tp&w website, they have a list of freshwater places to go. I printed one off some years back. There are also several bayous around that can be fished. Hope this helps.

lonestar, I would echo the Burke-Crenshaw lake. I think it gave up the state record green sunfish. There is also Tom Bass park off of south belt at 288; nice clear lake there, good access.
How about Sylvan Beach? I've seen catch reports of sand trout, specks, and croaker.
I've seen a lot of people fishing near the San Jacinto Battleground park, but wouldn't recommend keeping any fish from there (toxins).
The Challenger Memorial Park off of west Nasa Road 1 (I think) has some family access.
There is a book that has been out for a while, "Family Fishing Holes of Texas" I think it's called. I've seen it sold at Fishing Unlimited before. It's worth picking up.
