My merc is mounted on a Triton TR-185 with very low hours. The problem I am having is after a couple minutes of open throttle I get a warning (audible) and then the motor goes to idle on it's own. I'm not sure what kind of stream should be coming out of the engine but it seems low. I think it's a pressure problem. Someone told me that it may be clogged and that I may be able to run a welding cleaning rod to clear it. I'll get home in a few days and I'm anxious to get on the water. Any help would be appreciated.

Being an 06 I think you really need a water pump impeller. Cleaning out the pee hole is not going to help the alarm.

Also you may want to have a mechanic hook it up to see what kind of alarm you are getting. If over heating I agree you prob want to replace your impeller

Thanks guys. I think it's still under warranty. Any suggestions for mechanics.

Where are you located? Also your warranty won't cover an impeller. That's part of standard maintenance and manufacturers don't cover it.
