Why isn't there ever a fishing report for Martin Creek? I don't know much about the lake, but it's close to me and I plan to fish it this summer for catfish and brem from the bank. Is there anyone out there that goes there regularly that can give me some advise? Thanks in advance.

My family and I were going to Martin Creek every couple days the last month or so to fish at the State Park there, but ran into some problems. First issue, is that some unscrupulous person/persons decided to start running my trotlines, I even saw one do it one evening but they dropped it and took off before I made it to them. Another issue was, we made the mistake of fishing on the fishing pier on a Tuesday night, and had three catfish poles get the lines cut/tangled by the bass fishermen doing a nighttime tournament idling/trolling through our lines.
We did catch many small sunfish on poles and with a throw-net, and use them to bait the trotlines, which produced good bluecats to about 8 pounds. We did very poorly on most bank fishing though, a few undersized channelcats, no sunfish that could be considered 'pan' sized, no crappie caught at all and all the bass but one have been undersized.
I'm just in search of a way of not coming home smelling like the devils armpit.....

I fish Martin Creek pretty often. When you head out on 43 to-wards Henderson take that first county line rd to the south and fish under the bridge. There are a lot of catfish caught there and I have heard some real good size. I usually fish for carp there but have caught some catfish also. The one bad thing about that spot is the kids love to jump off that bridge and they don't care if you are fishing right there below the bridge.

Damn. I remember jumping off that bridge back when I was in school in Carthage. Can't believe they still do that. Good advice though. I used to fish under that bridge all the time and catch some of everything depending on what I was throwing.

I never do too good at Martin Creek State Park. So I rarely go there. It is usually fair peaceful there. There are a ton of little bream. (I mean little) I don't usually go after catfish, but they are probably your best bet.

I fished the state park Monday for about an hour while there camping. Wound up with 3 bass from the bank in a cover there in the park with the biggest being about 2-1/2 pounds.
Went back at night and fished off the pier when the lights were on and caught a few more but lost most trying to get decent size bass over the railing.
