The speedometer on my Skeeter TZX 190 recently stopped working. I have a 150 Yamaha V-max OH-66. Anyone know where the speed sensor is? I assume it is on the lower unit somewhere becuase it is not external on the hull.
Thanks

it's in the nose of the lower unit, just above the bullet.
it probably has wood stuck in it. be careful getting it out. gotta use a small drill bit BY HAND so you don't go too far and get into the gear case.
imho, it's a useless gauge anyway. i never knew why they are even on a bassboat.

steve's right, they are usless. i keep a little drill bit with my charger, everytime i park the boat just twist it with my fingers in the hole pull it out and removes the old mussy wood. then some times i say forget it and leave it in there.i run by the tach anyway, not like have a speed limit or anything.

I don't use it either...GPS is a lot more accurate. Just like to keep things working on the boat.
Thanks for the advice I will check it out.

Put a small amount of bleach in gas tank to clean engine. What, on another post you're talking about chlorine & now bleach. Maybe I'm stupid, but how can adding anything to the gas tank resolve a speedometer issue?

I had some wood stuck in mine and used a pair of tweezers to pull it out.
