hello people! I am looking at buying a chevy silverado 2500 4X4 extened cab (four doors) very low miles for the year ....2001 only 60,000 miles. However I am at a predicament...I own a DOdge durango sport has 122000 miles, brand new towing pkg, everything works, it a 5.2L V8. 4X4 ...i have 4 payments left. Do i pay it off and keep it, Or do I take the great trade in price, and get a younger better vehical. what would you do? let me know the dodge is showing age, both get horrible gas miliage so not an issue

Sounds like you already made up your mind. Consider having payments vs not having them is what I would do. I have two Toyota Tundras in the driveway and spend alot on gas for them, but I plan on keeping them until they either fall apart or gasoline becomes obsolete. You just can't beat these things.

I would look at how much longer do you think the dodge will make it and if you think it might last another year maybe pay it off and put your payments away for the next year and if the dodge needs a little work you will have the money to fix it and get through the year. Now with the truck payed off and a little money set aside you will be able to find a better newer truck you want and by then you won't care so much about the dealer giving you nothing on trade. Just my thoughts good luck

I'm with STAYNCHARGE... keep it, no payments, then maintain it, save some money then buy better in the future. From the sounds of it trade in now and later won't be too big of a difference or at least I don't think enough to be a big factor.

Do what I did, almost same situation like you except I kept my truck, paid it off, then couple years later bought a bigger newer truck, paid it off in 2 years (since i saved money not having payments) and now have two paid off vehicles in the driveway that will get driven til the wheels fall off or gas is extinct

Alright guys, Man I really thought for sure this was the vehicle for me. I think the wiser decision is to just pay off the one I have, its in really great condition. So I called the dealer today and told him I was not willing to have payments over a certain amount, and he needed to put new tires on it and ad a bedliner. I got silence then he said..."give me a little while and I will call you back!" So If i do not have a yes by all three by noon, I am out. And my durango will be payed off in 4 payments, and BAM freedom! Thanks for all the advice. I really apreciate it. Its worth it to have the extra money to put back in the bank. So I am gonna just see what the outcome is. Either way i am not out of a vehicle. I will let you know...

you will be glad you waited. pay off the one you have & then bank the payments. after a couple of years, you'll have enough to buy what you want. if you don't believe me, ask dave ramsey! banana
