Dales Marine in Tyler !
I bought a boat from them two years ago. Good prices on the boats and I have received nothing but VIP treatment from them. When I take my boat for a tune-up, I don't have to wait a week or more to get it back. I can usually schedule it to drive down on a Saturday morning and pick it up Saturday afternoon. Quality of the boat has been great !.
Good Fishing !

I have met all the guys from Plano Marine and partner and stepfather deals with them daily. Things change over time- there seems to be a good group of guys over there to help you with your problems and sell you a boat. I have worked at several auto dealerships and have seen my share of bad managers. Everywhere goes through up and down times. It wouldn't hurt to try Plano Marine to see if they can beat your other prices. I am sure they will, as it all revolves around good business to beat your competitors.

unfortunately elbob they know they have you by the balls. unless you want to drive two hours to tyler or all the way to ft worth you don't have too many other options, especially if you want a skeeter. there was a mention earlier that they had replaced people but you got the same poor service i recieved two years ago. same 'ol, same 'ol. ask the small sales group at dale's or fun-sun how long, on average, they have worked there in sales? i bet you get guys who are happy, doing reasonably well financially and have been there for 5+ years-they're good at what they do in a commission business. good customer service=more boats sale=good compensation=stability=happiness. at plano marine it's more like poor service=lost sales=no commission=unhappy=more poor service due to hating work=need to find a new place to work. vicious circle.

Evcomp, Jeff Gilbert is the owner of fun-n-sun. Know him personally. Great boat shop, great service and great leadership. I'll never even look at another shop again!

Don't go to Walmart, Don't go to Target ,Don't buy a Ford , Don't buy a Chevy, so on and so forth. Man, just go out and check around and talk to different stores yourself. Someone has a bad experience one time and they will try to burn them down. I like bass pro but I got the run around on a boat there so Plano Marine took real good care of me and I will always go back. I will also still do business with bass pro too. To each their own but you shouldn't let someones misfortune or bad time steer you wrong. You never know, they may have not been living right at the time and was getting pay back.hee-hee Good luck friend.

Unfortunately on a Saturday we sometimes get so busy with customers, there simply isn't enough of us to go around. It isn't that we ignore anyone but our store is very large, our selection very good and sometimes you can find yourself on the back lot showing someone 10 different boats while someone is on the showroom. This only becomes a problem on Saturday afternoons when everyone trys to come in. Perception = Reality but it is not necessarly always the truth. The salesman here at Plano Marine are very happy and plan on staying here for a long time.

I purchased my first boat from Plano Marine in 1990 and have always been treated extremely well. So much so, that I passed opportunities to be on other dealer/boat pro staffs to wait for an opening with Plano Marine/Skeeter.
As far as the negative comments are concerned, Im sure your business dealings go exactly as planned every time, every deadline is met and always has been. You dont drink, smoke, or curse. You attend church every Sunday and drive the speed limit to and from. Must be nice being perfect.
I have visited with people at the ramp/water on more than one occasion that tell me they are on their 3, 4, 5th Skeeter that they purchased from Plano Marine. You cant stay in business for as long as Plano has by treating people poorly. Having grown up in my families retail stores and previously owning 3 of my own, I know for a fact you cant make everyone happy 100% of the time. And let me tell you something, the customer is not right 100% of the time. Some people just dont want to be happy, some people want to raise hell because they feel like they can.
I can list plenty of things that Plano Marine has done for me over the years that have been above and beyond the call of duty. The people at Plano Marine are not just the faces at the dealership, they are the faces of people whom over the years I consider my friends. (Tommy Lasiter has been with Plano Marine selling boats since 1979.)
I think Fishin Dave said it best, go shop around and find the dealer that is the best fit for you, I, like many people made Plano Marine mine a long time ago.

I'm with Fishin' Dave. Check it out for yourself and make up your own mind and be influenced by your own experience.

I just want to say I'm happy to see good and bad reports related to this topic. Too often you only hear one side of it.
evcomp - I'm glad you're getting lot's of inputs. The final decision is of course yours. Good Luck!

Bought my Skeeter from Fun-N-Sun in Hurst in 2002, and the follow up service since has been great. That's where my next Skeeter is coming from.

I haven't bought a boat from either. However, there has to be a reason that Fun-n-Sun is the #1 dealer for Skeeter and I believe in the top 5 for Ranger.
Being in sales myself, there is one thing that can and will consistently set you apart from the competition, customer service. If you provide a high level of customer service then customers are willing to pay a little more for a product.

Have you ever threw rocks as A kid only to get in trouble ,and then realize it was wrong , only to be told by your father it was wrong. And you listened to dad and stoped . In his eyes you fixed the problem. he gave you the chance . How lucky are we to be able to get on gods water in A place only you and I know exist . many people do not I am Blessed To go thear , i have learned over the years kindness is A great value ,Kind people are few , I have found that most fisherman posess This special Trate. That is why I dwell and have A great passion to Fish , Not just the fishing but the people that I find on the water . When I am at Trouble Times i must turn to the water And the people I have Met In heaven on earth . I have fallen to what i felt was the bottom of life , only to go to the lake and find the cure . To just have A boat is Dream of many , I remember when I had no boat ,I prayed to just have someone take me . I started fishing at 5 years old I was 29 years old before I got my first rig. So i am not heare to Knock anyone Nor will I judge A man ,Give some one A chance in life. With mouths to feed and bills to pay I would give anyone A second chance. We all must communicate In life If we all practce Kindness and communicate Think how the world would be . Bless you all , And remember positive breeds positive only we can make it multiply Thanks Randy

Ease up on me guys. I made a post about Plano Marine only when asked to do so by evcomp. I didn't start this thread, only put my .02 in because a fellow TFFer asked for it. I hope that when I ask for info, I get the truth, and not some sugar coated, one with the world, can't we all get along answer. The man asked for information, sounds like he is get'in some. As for a second chance, I wish I would have stopped there.
