Posted a topic in the Boats/Motors section regarding Plano Marine and was told I should maybe look elsewhere. Has anyone had any good Skeeter dealer experiences that could point me to a reputable dealer, just in case my new boat develops warranty issues. I currently own a Nitro and had a bad experience with dealer warranty issues. Any help would be appreciated.
Thanks,
evcomp

They have a good selection at Fun and sun. I like the way the salesman handled himself. I did not buy there as the boat ( used) I was looking at was sold. The salesmans name is FAIN. I think it is in Hurst, on rt 10.

evcomp, I work at Plano Marine, we have been in business in the same location with the same owner for 28 years. Many dealers have come and gone but Plano Marine has stayed in business buy selling good boats at good prices, and then taking care of our customers after the sale. We have been here and will continue to be here to serve you. In 28 years of business there will be a few people that get a bad impression but the majority are happy. Let me know if we can help.
Thanks,

I have had great success with Fun-N-Sun in the past 8 years I would give them a try. Call Paul at 817-279-1991, he will help you out with everything that you need.

FUN & SUN Marine in Cleburne. Ask for Monte Reagan, they even have excellent service after the sale.

DO NOT GO TO PLANO MARINE. I responded with more specific details in the last inquiry about buying a boat but it got deleted. Here are a few specifics-I walked in to ask a question about upgrading to a newer Skeeter and was going to pay the $15K difference in cash. Had to practically hunt down a salesperson while several guys were sitting behind their glass enlosures watching me walk around. If you would like to avoid salespeople who offer their assistance then this is the place for you. Just call the main phone number. Listen to the way they answer the phone with a total lack of enthusiasm, almost as if your call is a bother, then wait 5 minutes to be transfered to someone who doesn't have the answer but leaves for another 5 minutes to get the answer. Again, you'll eventually get your problems answered but you may have to wait a few. I asked the salesperson to explain the proper break-in for a new Yamaha motor while we were in the Service department. He told me there was no break-in needed and I could just go out and let her rip. The Service man looked up with a total look of surprise on his face and then proceeded to spend 5 minutes explaining the importance of a proper break in for a 150hp motor.(I had bought a Skeeter before so I knew there were procedures involved) LONG story short, and to at least add some merit to the dealership, I put the poor service aside and bought my new boat because of a better than fair trade in on my existing boat. I decided to ignore the poor service in order to save about $1K in cash as I did pay $$ for the difference. One last item to add-I had just agreed to pay cash for the difference in a $26K Skeeter and the salesperson refused to mount my Lowrance onto the new boat for free. I think I got charged one hour's worth of work and a few supplies to transfer the fishfinder. Sure it was all of $100 but I just gave him what I thought was a nice sell. Principle more than anything! I will reserve comments on the Service Department for later. Just know you will get GREAT service roughy half the time you take your boat in. I won't comment on the other half but having to drive an hour one way to the east side of Plano to have them re-fix a simple work order is really aggravating. I have heard good things about Fun-n-Sun. Bought my first boat at Dales Marine in Tyler and can't speak highly enough of that experience. Perhaps they spoiled me enough to make any other boat dealership look like Plano Marine.

Ditto with RKD!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! Bought one and only one boat from Plano Marine. Still laughing at their sales pitch. "Were tournament fishermen here and we understand your needs". They did not understand "fix my boat!". I bought a new 1996 200 ZX/200 Mercury from them in Feb 96. I sold this boat last year with some of the same things wrong with it as was wrong with it the day I bought it. Partly my fault as I got tired of driving 150 miles round trip to get things fixed. Hard to tell out of the water if it works or not, well most times it was not fixed. If you want to call me and chat, the # is 972-741-0502 and the name is Tim Wooldridge. Plano Marine you know who I am. You will not be able to defend your self against me. TFF, if Plano Marine responds, please allow me to defend my position and inform other TFF members. Thanks in advance.

Go to Fun-n-Sun in Hurst. Can not agree more on the sales staff and the great service after the sale. Fain is a class act and will listen to what you want. I as well tried Plano, because it was close to work and my old house. I won't go into detail about my terrible experience dealing with Plano. All I can say is call Fain, or any of the others at the Hurst store, and you will be happy.

Unfortunately Plano Marine has gone through its share of salesman in the past. Hopefully that has changed because now the people that are there want to stay and make our living through them. I can't speak for what has happened in the past but we can change what will happen in the future. That is the reason we are posting messages in response to this beating we are taking. WE CARE WHAT YOU THINK! We also have a new service manager that I have heard nothing but applause for from my customers. I know that it will be impossible to please everyone but we will try. Please don't judge those of us that have never had a chance to speak to some of you guys.

I bought a new demo from Fun-N-Sun less than a month ago and have been very happy with the salesman (Fain) and the service area (Greg & Lance). I would definitely buy a boat from them again if the price and boat was the deal for me.
I will go on to say that I priced and actually tried to buy a boat from Plano Marine at the same time. I would've bought from them based upon the experience I had with Plano but they just didn't have the boat or made the deal that I could get at Fun-N-Sun, believe me they really bent over backwards trying to earn my business.
I really don't have anything negative to say about either one. I know Plano Marine has a bad reputation from some people and it may be warranted but I didn't have that same experience.
Good luck, hope you are as happy with your Skeeter as I am mine. You better hurry if you are going to get the spring promo's that Skeeter and Yamaha are offering.
