Anyone on the forum know much about Inks lake below Buchanan in Burnet County. We are planning a camping/fishing/boating trip there in a couple of weeks and was hoping to get some pointers on the lake. My brother has camped there a few times but hasnt done much fishing. I am going with them this time and we are taking the boat and was wondering if anyone could give us some tips.
We stopped by there on the way home from the deer lease after turkey hunting and it is a beautiful place. A real gem in the middle of almost nowhere.
The bridge pilings look promising for crappie. I saw some really big bream around the banks and I am certain we will catch some fish but just wanted to ask for advice if anyone is familiar with the lake???
TIA,
Jason

Brothab, It's been 10+ yrs but we used to bank fish near the discharge. We caught alot of good bass, crappie and sandbass. Also, had a few hybrids(5#-7#) & stripers(7#-10#) all using minnows. The area between the discharge & the cable was always a good area. And right at the end of the discharge wall where it drops into the water was a very good spot. Be careful if your near the discharge area, If & When they release water. Also, watch out for those BIG Rocks, there were some If I remember correctly, on the right side heading up toward the the discharge. That beautiful scenery, I sure miss it. Hope this helps. Good Luck Gary

Have been fishing Inks for quite a number of years. One area I have done well in is immediately as you go underneath the Hwy 29 bridge. There is a little slough that has several boat houses along the shore, I have always managed to get a least one keeper out of here. The area near the golf course has also be productive. As you near the dam to lake LBJ there is a large cove that has numerous docks around it, this has also produced good bass. I normally use flukes, grubs and spinnerbaits.
