Took my family to Dinosaur Valley in Glen Rose today. Saw a man with his wife and 3 young children poking a stick at a "beautiful snake" he had found, so he described it. I told him that was a 3' copperhead and he aught to leave it alone. bolt

Great post - I've never seen one with a yellow tail.

I was mowing my yard one day and had to get off the mower to move a stick. Thank god I took off my sunglasses as I was bending down. These guys have great camouflage.

Awesome and the writing that goes along with it is excellent too. When does the book come out?

Great shots as usual Geryl. Thanks for sharing. And I definately laughed out loud when I read the post. You got almost everything in there. All it needed was something about holding a LMB by the jaw, not supporting the belly. That seems to be a favorite of the pictures forum lately.

My wife is getting into photograpy also. She's got a Nikon D60. I just bought her a 55-200mm zoom lens with VR and optional manual focus. It came with a shroud too (not sure if shroud is the right word). Shes getting pretty good so far. Mostly portraits. She took a few shots of some neighbors the other day, posted them on Facebook, and now shes got tons of people asking her to take shots of them. Pretty cool. Now her head is getting big. She thinks she can turn it into a business. She's a full time school teacher and has a dream of quitting and making photograpy a full time job. I don't want to squash her dreams, but I imagine that its not a high paying job and extremely competitive.

Sorry to steal your post and ramble for a bit. Just thought you might have some words on the topic.

We're putting together a website for her. When we get it up and running, I'll PM you the link.

-Matt

Beautiful pics of a beautiful animal! I am however completely blown away that this thread has not been over-run with ignorant rednecks telling you to kill it. Thank you for sharing the beauty of the natural world without promoting the destruction of it.

Thats a juvenile copperhead, you can tell by the lime green tip on the tail. Very nice pics!

a very nice moon shot

Hooking a fish is like playing string with a cat. The exact size, shape, color of string matters less than how you wiggle it- and little cats are easier to fool than big ones. John Gierach
