Anyone have a suggestion for a good camground around DFW? Within an hour or so. Clean, playground for the kids, decent bank access with fishing opportunities.

Any thoughts?

I was thinking about going down to Fairfield....that may be too far...not sure though...I think the shore fishing on Fairfield is pretty good. I've done some looking and there are several camgrounds on Lewisville. Anyone used any of them?

I thought about Cedar Creek too...that's a bit out of range I'm afraid. Fairfield is a possibility.

They have some nice cabins on Bridgeport. Great crappie fishing on their dock.

I googled campgrounds on Bridgeport and didn't get anything...do you know the name of the campground on B-port? I looks like there might be a campground on the south west side of the lake..not sure though.

I camp at Hickory Creek park on Lewisville. Nice place to stay. Haven't fished from shore there. There is another one called Pilot Knoll, but I have not been there.

Both pilot knoll and hickory creek are good. Pilot knoll has some pretty decent catfishing spots on the bank. Buy a tub of DK's punch bait, grab a lawn chair, and pop a top.

I go to wise county park. It's up in the river part of the lake. the lake is down atm, but you should have no trouble launching there.

Isle Du Bois State Park - Ray Roberts. It's the nicest that we have found.

+1

If you are tent camping look for a primitive site in the Hawthorn area and you can camp and fish right near the bank. Go for spots 11 through 15.

Isle Du Bois is a nice place to stay, but the park rangers are not very freindly and seem to have a power trip. I won't be going back myself. But it is nice.

There is a nice campground on Lake Hawkins. Not sure you would want to drive that far. Great beach and play ground - perfect for kids. They have regular camping spots and shelters.

You can reserve a spot but I don't have the number - it's run by Wood County.

I really like wind point on the north end of towokine good camp sites lots of fishing shore line. they also have cabins and a small store with bait. there is a playground for the kids and a swwimming beach. they have an electronic gate so you don't get the teenage party get togethers. i haven't been there in a couple of years but plan to soon. sorry about the spelling
