Well, put in at the Dove Loop boat ramp and it'll cost you $5. Be sure to fill out the tag properly or you'll get a ticket.

You can fish Dove Slough which is right next to the ramp. Use crankbaits around the docks and carolina rigs on the secondary rocky points. Use spinnerbaits in the smaller coves around the grass and bushes. I haven't been since the rains, but the lake should be up right now.

After Dove slough, go across the lake to Twin Coves and go to the cove on the left. I usually work the western side of the cove throwing cranks, spinnerbaits, and texas rigged creature baits around any cover that you can see. Try to stay with that pattern until you zero in on something. On the eastern side of the west cove towards the mouth, there is a steep ledge - you can't miss it cause it has all of the giant, flat rocks. It's a ledge that is about 15-20 feet deep and always has some nice fish suspended on this ledge. Try a drop-shot or a wacky worm here. Let them sink until you get big - FISH THIS LEDGE SLOWLY!!! There are some good fish there!

ALWAYS keep a spoon or Little George tied on - the MAgnum Sandbass will be schooling this time of year. They really school well near the island in front of Dove ramp.

Hope it helps and best of luck,

-Alton

BTW, a big THANK YOU to you and your comrades for your service to our country!

Good luck - I shoulda asked what you guys were fishing for before I posted, but if you just wanna catch something, you can't go wrong with the Sandies. Get there early enough and get ready. Tie a little george on and put a 1/4 oz road runner about 12-14" above that and you'll have some serious fun! 3 guys catching 2 at a time for an hour straight makes for some fine memories!

The plan is for a full scale amphibious assault on the Large Mouth population. And if they're runnin scared, we'll take all the Sand Bass as prisoners instead.

Lol, that's how my buddy Clint described tomorrow

Gambit, you know it! Thank you for your service. That comes from the heart.

No matter what or where you fish, take it easy on them. No bass can match a marine! You're gonna have to be sneaky.

Have a good day on the lake.

Thanks for your service. I have a son serving he has been to Iraq 3 times and is now waiting to be discharge in June. Mom and I can't wait till he is home. Got him lined up for college and need him to start on grand-babies. Funny thing happen he was issued a child in the Corps but did not have one. He had a heck of a time getting that cleared up. He could keep up with his weapon and flak but not the kid. We were mad at him when we found out he had lost the kid. It was a good joke. Still poking fun about that at him. Semper Fi from a Marine family in Texas. While your on the lake I you GET YOU SOME!!!

Spinnerbaits have been producing in the coves, brushhogs texas rigged also work well. Chrome and black rattle traps will slay sandies all day.

Gambit, that looks like the cove on the west side of the dove boat ramp - is it?

Sorry you didn't catch more, Grapevine can sometimes be finnicky. I hope that you didn't pass up the chance to throw wacky-worms in all of those flooded reeds and grass in the pic you posted.

Holler at you, soon.

-Alton
