If your from lago you must be in Travis and that is the hardest lake to find bait. as far as the size of a net, the best is the size you can throw and get it opened up. One trick that i can tell you is if you are right handed. grab the net about a foot from the top ring, pick a weight with your left hand and place it in your right and then reach down and grab another weight that is on the same side and to the left as the first one. So now you have two weights, net, and rope all in your right hand. Now reach down and grab another weight in your left hand and put both elbows against your body, twist your body to the right and let the net stop and hang straight down then thrown the net buy the twist of your body and right hand only your left only lets the net open and you release the net. when your done your left elbow is still against your body. hope this helps good luck

I am just now getting to know how to throw my 6 footer just fine. I bought a 7 footer to start with and it nearly killed me. Don't know why the extra foot makes that much difference for me but it does. I backed way down to the 3.5 foot net for practice and now I never use it.

5ft. ( 10ft. open) is about all this old man can handle. If your having problems throwing it, do like I did, get out in the back yard and practice. That was years ago, and I can still do fairly well standing on the nose of the boat.
