Last couple of years they've killed off all the hydrilla. It's been a while since I've seen any grass in it.

We fished there last Saturday and one of our guys caught an unofficial lake record 13.74 that was still on bed. If he would have weighed her at 10am instead of 3:30pm she probably weighed14. Lots of bass caught and GW said there was 37 boats out there.

If he would have weighed her at 10am instead of 3:30pm she probably weighed14. From the TPWD website, exceptions page: "Purtis Creek State Park Lake Catch and release only for largemouth bass except that any bass 24 inches or greater in length may be temporarily retained in a live well or other aerated holding device and immediately weighed using personal scales. Bass weighing 13 pounds or more may be donated to the ShareLunker Program; otherwise, the fish must be immediately released in the lake where caught. Anglers wishing to donate their bass must immediately cease fishing and contact TPWD at (903) 670-2230. Anglers may not remove the bass from the immediate vicinity of the reservoir unless instructed to do so by TPWD staff. Bass not accepted by TPWD must be immediately released." Retaining the fish in the livewell for 5+ hours does not meet the intent of "temporarily retained". Congratulations to your friend for catching the fish, but all anglers need to be aware of the regulations and abide by them, regardless of whether you're in a tournament or not.

Can't believe they killed all the grass, that place used to be bass heaven. We always went there in july, my buddy caught his PB there a few years back. Bank fishermen were always using live goldfish.

The fish have always related to structure, but some of the better spots were easier to find due to the grass. The grass gave you another vertical edge to work. Now that it's gone, you have to be better at identifying subtle breaks, and the spot-on-spot type places. I'm better at reading and understanding my electronics now that the grass is gone Let's just make sure that we follow the rules on the catch-and-release policy when we catch these toads, even when fishing these big money club tournaments. Okay, guys and gals?
