been down there twice, thats a very nice fish... wouldnt want to accuse the guides of doing anything untoward, but they carry some very old hand held spring loaded scales and just about all the "spring" is gone....tends to beef up the weight a little. I usually take a new digital down myself so theres no guide tricks going on. Not saying that happened with your fish but...
no double digit fish my second trip but 10.8;11-4 and 11-0 all on brand new scales my first trip along with many 8,s and 9. The 11-4 weighed 13-6 on our guides scale. That scaled turned 8 #ers into 10's. good guide, bad scales.

The charm of fishing is that it is the pursuit of what is elusive but attainable, a perpetual series of occasions for hope. ~John Buchan

sorry folks, I can't let this one go. I was with Steve on that trip and Alberto (our guide) did not have an old spring type scale. In fact, he didn't have a scale at all. We used my berkley digital scale...and, yes, it had new batteries. I find it pretty doggone lousy that anyone can sit on the sidelines and make such underhanded accusations as yours. I don't see your picture holding a giant bucketmouth like that...oh, that's because you've probably never caught one.

No sir, BluRanger. Tacky is calling someone out when you have no evidence of wrongdoing I'm simply defending the post because I know it to be true, assuming the berkley digital scales are accurate...and I believe them to be very accurate, certainly within a few ounces. For those that haven't or won't ever be able to go to ElSalto, well, it's a real shame because it truly is a unique fishery. This fisherman stated in his challenge to the facts that he had already been there twice. If the pix looks like something else to someone, so be it...but that doesn't warrant an accusatory response or a suggestion of intentional trickery or deception.

I still don't believe you. I find it pretty doggone lousy that anyone can sit on the sidelines and make such underhanded accusations as yours. You have heard of this thing called the internet? I don't see your picture holding a giant bucketmouth like that...oh, that's because you've probably never caught one.Well at least something on this thread is 14. Look, I'll be man enough to admit I'm wrong when you, well, umm, prove me wrong. For now, I'm starting to think this was a poorly executed publicity stunt to get folks down to Mexico. It's all in the game though, right?

This is enough of the calling out when people post pictures. Any future disparaging comments will earn the poster a break from posting here. This is a fishing site first and foremost and is supposed to be loose and fun so please lets keep it that way. Tahnks
