Leaking somewhere in the water at the rear of the boat? Does not leak when the boat is on the trailer. I guess this fluid is used for the steering and trim on my merc 225efi since I have a manual JPlate? Any suggestions on where to investigate first would be appreciated!

steering and trim should be two sepperate and differant systems. With boat on trailer, trim the motor up and down and watch for leaking, around the tilt and trim rods or the fill cap. Then have someone work the wheel back and forth while watcching for a leak around the steering cylinder. Goodluck with it

Check each system to see whats low on oil.

This sounds sreally ignorant Gary, but it is the system that I fill remotely on top of the drivers side console that is leaking...I think that is my steering? How do you check the other system?

Yes that is the steering and their is a fill plug on the T&T too. But main thing is to fix the leak before it stops working at a bad time. GOOD LUCK
