I caught a monster yellow cat off of lake conroe with a rod and reel. Using bathroom scales we initially weighed him around 130 pounds. This was eventually determined to be in error. The fish was weighed on certified scales, and weighed 67 pounds. Many many photographs were taken, I will get one on here as soon as I can.

If this is accurate, take the flathead catfish to any grocery store in the area that will let you weigh it there (call ahead). Their scales will be certified.

Look on Texas Parks and Wildlife website for certified scales in your erea. Take pictures of the fish and pics of measurements. Lay a reference on the fish like a dollar bill and the tape measure at the same time so noone can dispute the measurement in the pic. Be sure and leave your cell phone for the game warden to call. Also you can find the local number to game wardens office one their website. BTW CONGRATS!!!!!

Also call any bait shop around you. Keep that fish with cool water on him. Don't let it get HOT! Also, is there a Cabela's or Bass Pro near you? They have certified scales and will also keep it in there aquarium for you.

http://www.tpwd.state.tx.us/fishboat/fish/programs/fishrecords/rules/here is the form or get one from TPWD warden Pictures of you with the fish, length of the fish, and girth of the fish, get the forms notarized since we are talking big record fish, not just a lake record fish. Get certified scales, might be closest in Bryan , Tx... Try calling Brett Radabaugh guide on Lake Conroe and see if he can tell you closer scales brett phone 936-524-9179 Wish I were closer, I live in Bryan, and have certified scales, but am in Houston today Weldon Kirk

yes is a world record. go get a set of 200# scales somewhere from a weights and measures store or ag store. weigh it. go get the scales certified by a weights and measures testing place. post the dam pics immediately because if it is a world record we need to see

If you did put in in chlorinated water dump the water and keep him covered with wet towels careful not to wash the slime off of the fish when you cover it with the towels keep them damp, in the shade. This is a worst case scenario - If you see the fish is not healthy this is only to keep him alive so that you can release him would hate to see that monster die in a kiddie pool--- drive back to Conroe or your closest lake or pond, cut a slit in the bottom of his lip big enough to run a rope through the lip, then take a rope long enough to where he can get out of the direct sun in the water and stay oxygenated at the same time. Tie him up and let him rest on the rope until you get a plan.
