Biggest problem that I have seen is that it has a tendency to get line twist. When I initially put it on it casts great but after a few trips Ive noticed that I start getting backlashes on almost every little cast. Now when it starts getting like that I spool the reel behind the boat and let the line straighten out, floro is alot harder than mono and the knot has to be perfect or you will break off. I have polled the crowd on here and have switched brands numerous times. Im still trying to find the perfect floro, but I'll say this it out fishes mono 10 to 1!

I think flouro is wayyyy more sensitive than mono...You get yourself a tungsten weight, some seaguar and a good quality rod...you will be setting the hook 10 times per cast...its THAT sensitive.it really makes that much of a difference IMO.

so the floro i just bought is worthless??? i didn't know that you had to do maintenance on it, i thought it was just like mono and you just spool it up and run with it for a few weeks

just check your line and retie every so often, if you have been breaking floro it bc it is a lesser brand or your not quite maintaing it correctly, just my .02 exactly.. I am spending $20+ on 110yds of a "lesser brand" & I still have to tack on $7 for a bottle of conditioner for this line????

Berkley vanish was the worst line I ever bought, ever since then the only problem has been line twist causing backlash. Im not sure about the line conditioners, never used that stuff before. If im gettin backlash i just unspool and let it untwist now, seems to work for me. I can teel you this in tourney fishin it makes all the differnce to me, 10/1 hands down! Thats nine more bites vs mono. I only spool on enough line to make a looong cast, the reel is pre spooled with el-cheapo mono, making the 110 yds of floro go longer.

I hated fluro for a while too until I learned that it was my knots with fluro that was causing me to break. Since I changed knots no problem. When I am flipping I use Invisx 20# as a leader off of my 55# Power Pro. I also use Berkley 100% in 10# range for my spin cast stuff ie. drop shots and wacky rigging but use mostly all mono on all of my crankbaits.
That's handier than a pocket on a shirt.

ok not to steal the thread but why do fluro spools come in 200 and 250 yds and braid comes in 150yd?

It could be the knots your using. The polomer knot is not a good knot to use with floro. What do you mean by spending more money to condition the the line?

who hates Flouro. I've tried them all & finally thought I was on to something w/ seguar red label but I am now starting to dislike it too.
Is it really worth it to spend $20-30 on a 110yd spool of line that you have to "baby" & spend even more money to condition it just to make it managable & not break on the one full day of fishing it is good for before you have to replace it?
I think I'm gonna go back to old school & use mono for everything (except braid for frogs) I tried the new LFT powersilk & it seems great!
I've never had a problem with P-Line or Berkely 100% Fluro. It seems to me that there are limitations with any kind of line, and if you stay within the line's limitations, you do not have a problem. Are you by chance using too light a test for the application, or a knot other than palomar? Personally, I don't understand what your problem is.
