Are the Bluegils spawing at Fork?? It's time to take my G-ma and G-pa down for our annual BG fishing trip and was wondering if the high water has everything messed up?

Any help will be appreciated!

Yes, took the wife fishing for mothers day and we caught about 80 big ones along with 9 nice channel cats up to 6 lbs on crickets yesterday in about 4' of water. Catfish are cruising the banks, so use at least 10lb test on your reels. We broke off on catfish twice in the first 5 minutes so we switched to reels with 10lb line. Still broke a couple off after that that were huge.

If you dont mind me asking what part of the lake were you fishing? You don't have to be specific. Back of creek, middle or toward the mouth? I used to fish Fork for BG weekly back in the early nineties but noticed a decline in the size of fish so stopped making the drive and fishing closer on LOP and Caddo. I always had success in Dale, Williams and Glade. I did catch some good fish so it was probably just my lack of looking for new spots. It seemed to drop off when the LMB virus hit the lake. The numbers were good but size was off. Thanks and good catch.

They are spawning like mad up in birch creek. Was out the other night with a spotlight after some gar in the shallows and the BG were dang near jumping in the boat and going crazy, lol.

I went Saturday and caught some real nice ones on pieces of worms. Some of the biggest I've seen in the few years since I've tried for them out there. I don't fish too much for them but I really enjoyed it...
