I finally got two days off and my Crazy Brother-in-law wants to take a trip to RC. I have never fished there and any info or hints would be greatly appreciated. We will be staying close to the 287 bridge and have a boat. Would love to bust some crappie but am really happy to just be fishing. Will be there Tues/Weds.
Thanks Guys!!!!

I have not been out there this spring but under the 287 bridge is never a bad place to start. I don't know if they have gone that deep yet but I suspect there are some that have. Also try the 2589 bridge. Good luck let me know how you do.

Caught a lot of small ones last Sat. in and around the Richland arm, (black forrest pipeline fenceline Winkler) and not many keepers. The fish are scattered right now and havent got on their summer patterns yet. Found more on brush piles than standing timber. They seemed to like the jig swimming and not so much completely still. Did catch a 5 pound 12 oz black bass on a jigs, that was fun.

I've definately caught my share. What was funny is a good friend of mine was fishing the bass tournament down there Sat. As soon as I caught it I had a camera phone picture sent to him because I had told him earlier that I would catch more bass than him while I was Crappie fishing. I went to his weigh in. him and his partner weighed 4.46 pounds. LOL

The Crappie have been off at RC for about the last five days. Prior to that was doing pretty good on brush piles or laydowns in about 9 to 14 feet of water. Catching bunches (tons) of small ones with some big ones. Anything deeper than 15 feet seemed to only produce the small ones. On Saturday we were fishing some laydowns in about 12 feet and the Crappie just stoped biting all together. I thought some Big Bass had probably moved in - Nope - it was big Ol Flat Heads, got three on and only one of them in (of course the baby of the group). Not sure why the Crappie have gone bad the past five days but I know that can't last long.

I saw 2 big crappie floating at RC Sunday afternoon late. One was definitely over 2 pounds. hope that's not a bad sign. I was just out running some gas through my motor for the first time in a month. Didn't fish a lot but did catch a few sandies and some undersize hybrids.
