Anyone have a favorite crappie lake in another state?
I was watching the best fishing show on tv today (In-Fisherman Critical Concepts) and they were catching HUGE crappies on a lake in Mississippi. 3.5 crappies were being brought in to the cleaning table. shocked

I have ice fished Upper Red Lake in northern MN and caught some serious slabs through the ice one after another. That's the best lake I've been on.

Dardanelle - Arkansas
Millwood - Arkansas
Eufala - Oklahoma
Grand - Oklahoma
Oolagah - Oklahoma

My Dad lives in Bucks of Gaines Creek just north of McAlester on Lake Eufaula. 2 weeks ago we went out on a Sunday evening and caught 43 very nice crappie. I've had better trips for numbers, but not for size and numbers. We caught 5 that were 16-17" and multiple 15". They are getting alot of rain up there but I'm headed up mid-week to try them again.

I bet the show you was watching was shot on Granada Lake in Mississippi. Take a look at this

Reelfoot in Tennessee. One of the few lakes in the US that allow commercial crappie fishing.

Commercial fishing for Crappie on Reelfoot is no longer legal. It was stopped a few years ago.. Yep, I can remember going into "Boyettes" for years and seeing fried crappie on the menu..

I grew up in Memphis and have fished the big four, Arkabutla, Sardis, Enid and Granada. I caught my first 2 lb crappie on Sardis when I was 10 yrs old, so it is my favorite. I have caught more crappie and bigger crappie here in Texas. Our lakes don't get anywhere close to the crappie fishing pressure in the spring as those lakes do. I used to go back for a week every spring and got so tired of hearing "you should of been here last week" that I just quit going.

I like Oolagah, Ft.Gibson and Eufala Oklahoma a lot. Millwood would be my favorite out of state lake . Dardenelle stinks, Guntersville was nothing to write home about. Truman is a lot like Ray Roberts IMO with smaller fish. You could read a newspaper through the fish on Stockton Missouri. never fished Grenada but I would not drive 700 miles when Millwood is 175 miles and has timber.

Texas may not have the largest fish but we do have some awful good lakes that rank right up there with any state.
