Yea, one time I was fishing a crankbait deep at choke canyon and hooked into a monster. It was scrapping hard and my dad was running around the boat yelling "sharelunker, you got a sharelunker!"
Anyways, when I finally got it to the top, we saw that it was like a 10 lb goo and my dad freaked out and cut my line. I was mad because it was a good crankbait and I wanted it back, I asked him why he cut the line and he said, " I didnt want that ugly monster in my boat!" Pretty funny!

carp are serious fighters that dont get the respect they deserve. Had you put a few kernels of sweet corn on a very small single hook, you likely would have caught tons of them.
However, if they were spawning, then you would not have had any luck.
PB Common Carp....... 38 lbs PB Mirror Carp........12 lbs 8 oz PB SM Buffalo........ 53 lbs PB Grasser........... 48 lbs 4 oz PB Blue cat.......... 17 lbs (caught on maize)

Could have been gar as well. I have seen the gar school up and demolish fish in the backs of coves on that lake. It sounded like a big gator had caught a deer and was thrashing around. Never seen it anywhere else, I guess there is a huge population of gar on Choke. My guess would be carp or gar.

we usually see them year round out there if you get way back in coves and especially around the real muddy bottom parts of the lake, if you ever wanna hell of a fight mix bigred and bran flakes together and make little balls out of it fish on bottom like for catfish and they will tear it up, fun if nothing else is biting
