I was there on Tuesday and fished from 10:30 AM to about 4 PM. I managed to catch numerous undersize stripers. Out of the 15 stripers I caught only one was actually worth keeping. It appears the bigger stripers are becoming harder and harder to catch for some strange reason or it could just be me (LOL, LOL). However, I did have fun catching the smaller ones. PS. Did anyone see the schools and schools of Carp/Buffalo on the Texas side near the rocks.

pretty much plain and simple... the dam is getting harder and harder to fish due... if you dont know what your doing ... you wont catch squat... sad to say but its true... if your a rookie at the lake or dam ... and looking to get some fresh air and practice than your best bet is to go rowlett creek and catch some sandies or something ... most of the people on the forum will not share vital information with you... just because of the lurkers that come onto this site and come out to the spots and bring huge packs of families out there with no ethics.. sorry but its the truth... anyways... hate to be blunt on the subject but its true... haha soo if your looking for information... goodluck getting it ... your best bet is to go and try it out for yourself... goodluck and tight lines

This thread was started to help others learn how to fish below the dam when the floodgates are open.

You need a salt water surf rod at least 11' long with a saltwater reel that will hold a huge amount of preferably braided line. You need to be able to cast about 100 yds.

You can fish with a large group and not get tangled up. If you are able to cast out as far as everyone else, observe the rotation. If you cast out while the person next to you is about to start reeling his line into the bank, the current will carry your bait out of his way. Watch and observe what others are doing to keep from tangling each other. It has and can be done.

Don't go to be bottom of the Texas wall and try to fish on the bottom. You will stay tangled up with everyone. Just don't do it. Period!

The top of the wall casting directly parallel to the wall into the "hole" (where the generators are pushing out water) is where you need to fish on the bottom. There is an eddy area and huge catfish can be caught in this area.

If you are fishing with a 6' or 7' rod and reel, go down the bank where no one else is fishing because you are going to stay tangled up with everyone. You will never be able to cast out far enough past the current to fish where the big fish are laying in the calm water if you are fishing the Texas wall.

You need weighted corks with a leader for your jig that can be cast out 100 yds. Regular corks are a waste of time and effort.

Practice, practice, practice.

Watch, observe, and learn from those who are fishing and not getting tangled.

The big cats are not at the bottom of the Texas wall. They are in "the hole" or in the calm water next to the center wall closer to the dam.

HI Texasblonde please mention those catfish are at the white water also, if they can not cast to the white water do not try to waste the time and money go up there.

caught about 25 dinky tiny striper between 4 guys. only one fish over 18inch the rest from 5-12 inches lol. all on crappie jigs. bucktail jigs, sassy shad, and we caught all of them about 20 feet from the shore. fishing was slow for everyone else only saw 2 other people catch a couple and only one cat about 4pound. Everyone else seemed to be catching rockfish
