So I was walking along that lake/reservoir thing next to Rowlett Creek just a bit upstream from the gunrange, when I heard a big splash. Nobody ever fishes that lake, so I never payed attention to it much. I looked over and saw what I thought was a really huge snake swimming in the middle of the lake. It's head was sticking out of the water and it was swimming in circles. Then it smacked a big, flat tail or fin or something and made a huge splashing noise. It repeated this every minute or so for a bit then splashed one last time and disappeared under the water. What kind of animal/fish could that have been????

Did it sound like a 5 gallon bucket and did the pelt of the animal appear to be neoprene-like?

if it was a quick flash that kind of made out the shape of a man in green waders running across the water at a rate of about 96 mph..that was Angler_Josh after he saw a water snake

Beaver, no doubt about it! Slam that tail on the water sounds like a tree falling in! Got three of em at my favorite fishin' hole.

Hardheadeater..You reminded me of a very still quiet summer morning at Lake Fairfield, before first light as I paddled my two man plastic boat back into an isolated dark cove. Then suddenly SPLASH!!! right behind my boat! my heart was pounding as I could see Lake Farfield as though I was zooming out on Google Earth the Lake got smaller and smaller then ..whew! I was back in the boat, safe, ....but I did have to repair the "hole" that was torn in the seat cushion.....Yep it was a beaver!

Maybe one of those rare fresh-water sharks?!? HA!
All bodies of water ARE connected.
