i dont know how there is room out there for skiers much less fishermem....only time ive been there it seemed like byt he time i was up on place I was at the other end of the lake. More like a big ole pond.

Yeah, Grapevine is like Heaven on Earth. You can drink the water right out of the lake and everybody who visits it is of the highest possible moral character. PLEASE GO TO GRAPEVINE. And after you go, post a report and tell us how the hybrid fishing is over there in paradise. ha!! i definitely aint drinkin the water.... !!! and as far as the Hybrid go....it iant happening man ...never has and never will...yall got me there.....but i dont think the 2 lakes are comparable in any fashion what so ever....Grapevine is a family lake NO DOUBT...small time fishin lake....but is any thing but rude...and that is what the OP on this topic was insinuating ..i was just clarifying things up there.. Ill be honest ...I am salavating from the chops about getting the opportunity to get on lewisville and have some fun with yalls hybrid....

And after you go, post a report and tell us how the hybrid fishing is over there in paradise. \ We were fishing the point right under Glass Cactus on Thursday and I almost put a rattle trap into a dipstick with a wakeboard boat. He came passed us at least 5 or 6 times that I could have hit him with it. Granted I can sling it about 60-70 yards but thats still too close throwing that big of a wake.

Factually, both lakes are chock full of idiots w/ 50k of equipment & $1.98 worth of experience. The lake is NO PLACE for a confrontation, especially if you're not a regular. I think you'd be amazed with the results of taking the high road & politely educating the offender about proper fishing etiquette, rather than being an azzhole right back. No good can come from that. there was a thread w/ video attached a week or so ago about "angler's retribution" that did not portray the angler in a very good light. Don't be that guy. -Brian

dont forget that every boat on the vine has a hottie in a bikini all oiled up, grapevine has to be one of the best fisheris in the state!
I have never caught so many fish so fast... its almost a guarenteed limit every time I go!

I was anchord at GV last year & had some big rods in the rod holders hanging over one side of my boat. It should have been obvious what i was doing in the middle of the lake. I turned around after hearing some spashes just in time to see this BIG sail boat on top of me. "WHAT THE F ARE YOU DOING YOU IDIOT" i yelled at the dude in his Monstrosity! You know what he did? HE GAVE ME THAT SAME F?#%*&# LOOK!!! It happens everywhere.
NOW that I said that, I hope some folks can still forgive me for drifting between them & rightover the spot they were fishing. I felt terrrible but could'nt help it after my anchor broke loose from the bottom of LL. It was so windy that day that my troll motor wouldn't get me out fast enough. Wouldn't you know it. I gave them THAT SAME F*#$&^@ LOOK!!! I felt like a total Dumb A%# But, it happens everywhere. HUMBLE PIE BABE! Do you know those nice folks didn't even shake their heads at me.

Stuff like this happens all of the time, to me  Saturday I was out at Cedar Creek, working the shoreline with swim baits when another boat pulls up about 20 yards from us and starts throwing in our path. I looked over and had to laugh, because it was really funny. I decided to turn the boat in the other direction and then move to another spot. Some people don't care and some people don't know any better. This guy was simply a potlicker, who didn't care. It doesn't bother me that much, I just laugh and go on my way.

Yea there are plenty of places to fish so I usually just move even if fish are on the surface and catching one every cast... it is too much stuff to worry about... I fish to relax. So if someone is harshin my mellow I just move on!

Odd stuff like this happens but most of us will say "I'm sorry my anchor broke free" or whatever but to just pull up to another boat when there is a whole lake and start being rude is another story. We all have been in friendly boat shows of surfacing sandies w/o any problems and even enjoy chatting with other boaters until that one idiot goes driving thru the middle of the boat show on full plane. One day I was out near twin poles on LL and there was a boat show with about 5- 7 boats the poles were in the middle of the show with the sandies were surfacing near the shallows by the poles. Here comes the idiot down the middle. I thought he was going to hit the pole as he went thru the crowd. We all just looked on in disbelief. We had a similar idiot at Texoma, we have all seen them I'm sure. My big boat has a marine radio. All you have to do is whip out the mic and act like you are telling someone about their boat numbers start pointing, taking photos etc and act like you are telling the authorities. they usually leave and hide. It's kinda fun and helps keep me from getting mad. We usually have kids swimming when anchored out in big boat and I like to keep other boats away.
I feel more like I do now than I did when I first got here!

Sorry but I don't know what kind of law somebody is breaking when they troll through a boat show. I understand the ethical issues and that there is a certain level of risk associated with somebody idling past boats but I am pretty sure there is nothing illegal being done.
I just hope people don't start calling the game warden because people are rude and not breaking laws.

I really want to go to Grapevine so I can pay the launch fee and then get a ticket for..........paying the fee??? Funny you should say that. That happened to me twice at Katy Woods within a year of each other. Stub was in plain sight both times. A phone call both times took care of it but still.  I was anchored up out there one night, a moonless night and heard something, looked up to see a 30ft plus sailboat about 30yds frome me heading straight for me without a single light on anywhere  . Didn't have time to pull up anchor so I grabbed my spotlight and shined it on them and started yelling. Luckily they responded in time to miss me. You have to wonder where their heads are.

I was on GV last fall before first light and going across the lake with no moon and all of the sudden see a large sailboat anchored in the middle of the lake with absolutely no lights. I saw it in plenty of time to avoid it but I bet whoever was in it puckered up a bit.
I don't understand idiots like that...
