My new fish cat has an anchor pulley attached right under the trolling motor mount. Do you guys recommend using an anchor...what type? Saftey precautions?

I just use a nylon bag full of river rocks on mine works great( I hardly ever use it though thats what flippers are for)

It's more than the catfish would do.

speaking of flippers.....you like that better than the paddles or in addition to them?

I use a 7 pound mushroom style anchor on mine. My pulley was under the motor mount too so the anchor kept bouncing off the engine. I moved mine to the front of the rack and it works better imo.

On my toon, the pulley under the motor mount can be move to the opposite side (away from the motor). Anchor idea, use the mesh bag but put a 5-10 lb dumbell in it, works like a charm.

I like the flippers in addition to the trolling motor. The paddles annoy me sometimes, as they get in my way.

I just use a brick tied to a rope, works good for me.

But I am sure there are better remedies for this.

Just be sure your rope is long enough !!!!!!!!!
I had 25' and one of those 4 prong fold up anchors.
It worked great in till water where you could get to dig in.
But I had more than a little bit of trouble on a windy day at Lake O' the Pines
dragging 8 gal milk bottle jug lines when I 25' of anchor rope was just not long enough.

I have a 15lb mushroom, and I have trouble staying put on a windy day, but it does slow the drift down a lot

Any day of fishin' is better than a day at work...
