Quantum AVS 2.0 Youth Bait caster combo. I bought one of these at Academy last night $59 for my 10 year old. He decided last Saturday out in the boat that he wanted to learn how to use a bait caster. Was a good thing I had a few with me because I spent the next hour pulling bird nests out of one while he was fishing with another. rolfmao
Anyway I have to say I am impressed with it. I spooled it up with some 30 lb braid and took it out this afternoon for some testing before I handed it over. 6'2" rod, smooth long casts. has a split cork handle and low profile reel. I like it better than half of my rods.

I own this same combo, except mine came with a black handle.

It's going to be nice for a while, until it gets used quite a bit. I've fished mine almost everyday for 2 months and it's already starting to show symptoms of breaking down. First the rod, then the reel.

I think this is why is it made for kids who are not going to be fishing as intensely as we do. All in all though, I still use it as my main rig. Oh yea, don't throw big lures that have lots of water displacement, it'll be like reeling in a log.

I bought this combo for my 6 yr old for xmas last yr. He loves it!!! And he's getting really good with it as well!! He still has trouble when the wind blows and remembering to dial it down, but it all comes with time on the water! I can't wait to get my 1 1/2yr ol his first snoopy/spongebob/cars combo, or whatever cartoon character that's in style at the time. Have fun with your kiddo, as me and mine are about to go out in a few hours to tear em up on Belton!!

I got one for christmas last year the stores that are selling them are being recalled because they "might" have lead inside them. They might even crush them. Im glad I got mine. they are light weight and are great for small light weight crank baits. bang
