I would assume that land is for sale because Firewater went under a few weeks ago. Just tell them that you are considering buying the land and you want to test the tank out

Well....lets just hope the old man sells it soon. We had fished there hundreds of times during broad daylight with no issues...for a long time. Those Firewater employees would come out and watch us "slay em" . I think he just wanted us to stay away due to potential buyers surveying the plot during the day. I guess he didn't want potential buyers seeing a bunch of hics fishing and screwing up a potential deal.
LOL about Firewater going down.......those poor fish must be deaf from all that loud music!!!

My work route takes me right by that area EARLY one morning every week... I drove by there this afternoon to check it out, considering maybe giving myself an extra hour to test the place out next time.
I got there to see numerous signs posted all around the place saying it was private property, no trespassing, and mentioning some penal code or another.
Seems like the 'fish at your own risk' comment just got cranked up a notch.

Anyway, it is not a "secret" if you post photos on a public forum for all to see. In this case RUDY posted a photo that just gave it away. I think that there are alot of folks out there that would like to try this spot too.....what is wrong with that?
Is Rudy the only person to have fished there? Of course not... but he clearly did not want to reveal the exact location to the entire world, for obvious reasons... Not to mention the fact that you have basically taken over his post! If you want to help others by telling them about places YOU fish, try the "new topic" button! Rudy is a person that has showed me more places to fish than I can remember. He has also posted more useful information and pics over the years than most users on this forum, plus the knowledge and friendship MANY forum members have received from him in person. He even put together an extremely useful pamphlet on Dallas bank fishing hot spots a few years ago, for a TFF sponsored Crappie seminar. Its bs like this that makes him and others like him not want to post at all. expletive!

Kalub,
Are you sore because the spot has been revealed or because you think we are bashing your buddy?
I don't know Rudy personally....and yes I have seen the contributions he has made to TFF. Very admirable contributions indeed. I believe that Rudy is passionate about fishing and so am I.
I am not here to "take over" his post. I merely discovered from a photo that he posted that his "secret" place was Firewater. He revealed it...not me. I posted a comment...and a discussion ensued. This is a discussion board right?
So what is the difference if people go to Firewater and fish there as well?
I don't think anybody here is interested in stealing Rudy's thunder. I certainly am not.
So please relax.....RUDY is still the man!

Pardon my intrusion, guys, but I had to speak up. As I see it, there are two choices when it comes to "honey holes". When a guy posts one, and requests it be kept "sacred", do just what he asks, or don't ask him for the same kinda quality stuff in the future.
Bunch of people here have some kick butt spots that will never be spoken of on this forum for exactly that reason. It's your call... JM2C's

Tempest in a teapot guys, I kept it secret for one reason and one reason only, the man in the black lexus asked me to. He did not and does not want it overrun with fishermen. I cultivated that friendship over a few years, and had permission from him to fish there from day one. I was honoring his wishes. We all know others fish there, but others did not take the time to build a relationship and trust with the owner like i did. He did caution me that the area is high crime, and not to fish alone. so almost always i take some one with me, many of them tff'ers, on HIs ADVICE. Basically he said i could fish there and take ONE other person with me when i go. I told him i could only fish at night due to me working 2 jobs, he just said fine, but not alone.
When those ponds were being dug and filled in, way back in the day when ALL that land belonged to Mary Kay, my dad and I used to fish in the big lake behind the AMC, and Joe's creek and the Elm Fork, and all undersized bass and crappie we would put in there, this was back in the 70's and early 80's. That pond used to be much bigger, and it was one big pond not two small ones like now. many of the fish in there are descendants of the ones my dad put in there, and he is now deceased. I consider it an honor to catch fish from a population my dad had a hand in establishing.
One word of caution, the owner (whose name I won't reveal here) carries a loaded .357 magnum in his car, a magnificent black lexus, and he is half crazed enough to use it, but most of the time, he will only call the cops on you, or tell you politely but forcefully to leave.
True story, i did not want to deny anyone the chance to fish there, i was just honoring the owner's wishes, now when he sees it stacked bank to bannk with fishermen, first he's gonna call the cops on you, and secondly, come after me for breaking my word.
Thank you, that is all. We now resume regular programming.
Rudy

BTW, the most recent ownership of Firewater is now doing time in a Federal detention facility in Tennessee for drug trafficking and money laundering, and his wife is in a facility here in dallas awaiting transfer to a federal women's facility, apparently she was the bookkeeper, according to the owner of the land in the black lexus. he told me this Monday night.

....and as such.... I have recommended that people approach this place with utmost caution. Rudy, thanks for the heads up about the old man (the fact that he sports a .357) I did not mean to create chaos....It was more or less like: Hey...we Gotcha! But.....If you think this guy will (come after you?), then we need to talk because I DO NOT want you to get in a pickle.

One more little tidbit, and I'll shut up... What Rudy is telling you is very typical. Many owners of private waters will give you "permission" to fish their property if you just ask. They will give you perameters to stay within, and expect you to abide by them. Trust me, it's a very rewarding experience if you do so. Sneaking in may be a cheap thrill, but building ongoing relationships that equal many quality uncrowded fishing holes might be a better option.

I agree completely, the old man gave me permission to fish the big pond to the rear of the property. However, I think you would need a boat to be successful. The banks around that pond look like they are snake infested!

After seeing the place today, and knowing what I know about that area... things I've seen while eating at some local establishments... I probably wouldn't fish there if you told me I'd catch a 4 pounder every time I went... it's just too shady of an area. There are too many places some nefarious type could watch you & try to catch you unawares... then too many places for them to disappear afterwards.
I've watched people deal dope openly across the street while I ate my dinner on the patio at Pappa's BBQ... I've seen other, even less savory 'business' transactions agreed upon (thankfully I never saw those fulfilled).
If anyone still wants to fish there, day OR night, he's got bigger cojones than I do. I'm staying away.
