Thinking about upgrading to a new 09’ Toyota Tundra CrewMax w/5.7 looking for any pro and cons about this truck, is the 4x4 worth the extra money? Also can’t decide on the color Silver or Black?

I can't comment on the Tundra. I just bought a Tacoma and like it so far with the exception of the soft shift. Since I have a 4x4 already and my Tacoma has a locking diff I opted not to get a 4x4. I have had 2 2WDs with limited slip and never had a problem pulling my boat out. Unless you are using the truck off road particularly in mud or sand I would would go for the 2wd with the locking diff. Not only will the 4x4 cost you more up front but also everday in gas and maint..

I have an 08 double cab and I can honestly say, it is the best truck I have ever driven. This is my third Tundra and the new style is unbelievable. The 5.7L is a asphalt chomping demon and it is suprisingly good on gas for how much power. With my cruise set on 70, I get 20-21 on the interstate. If you absolutely need the 4X4, get it. Mine is a 4X2 with the TRD OFF Road package and I have never had a problem with traction.
You always hear people say " you can't even tell the boat is back there". This is the first truck I can honestly say, you forget a boat is behind you and I have a Ranger Z21 that is almost 6,000 pounds with boat, trailer, motor, etc.
Call Matt Bawcum at Toyota of Paris before you sign on the dotted line. He has always treated me right and the service is unbelievable.

Joe,
Go test drive one and you'll fall in love. If there are any cons, the pros definitely outweigh them.
Also, I would go with Silver. Black shows scratches.

I have an 08 TRD 4X4. Runs and rides well. Have only used the 4wd once and that was not at a ramp. Great truck. Go thru the fleet manager at any big Toyo place, they run on volume not unit price.
"If this ain't a mess, it will do till one gets here."

Yeah, I bought my '06 Tundra from the fleet manager at Universal Toyota off I-35 and Judson Road -- he was a really good guy and a former Marine. His name is Anthony ... can't remember his last name. It's been a great truck so far.

I could say verbatim what Z21 Cranker mentioned. I love my 08 Tundra with the 5.7. It's the first truck I've ever had that I thought was fun to drive. It's got an awesome ride and is the most comfortable truck I've ever owned.
4x4 is up to you. If you don't offroad I can't imagine needing it. I've yet to feel a lack of power. I sell boats for a living and I've had up to 26 foot bow-riders (bout 8000 lbs) hooked up to it delivering them to customers.
I LIKE IT!!

If you like the GM ride you wont find it in the Tundra. I have a 2wd 5.7 SR5. Power= best I have had. Towing=super strong. Ride quality= 1976 Dodge powerwagon....
I love my truck and my lease is up in a few months and I am going to get another. The only thing you will miss is that sweet GMC ride.
 Boatless for minute

I rented one and did not care for the ride either. My Tacoma rides great.

I have to 04 Limited double cab and it is a solid truck. I liked it so much my wife has not given it back to me for about a year. Something about the flowmasters and sitting high up in it. I fixed that problem by getting myself the 07 SR5 double cab. It will pull like no other and does good on gas. My new problem is squeezing them into the driveway at the same time, they don't fit in my garage. I do love those trucks!!!!
